Singaraja- The Postgraduate Education Administration Study Program of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) pays attention to national character building. The step is to increase understanding through a national webinar on Wednesday (14/12/2022).
The webinar with the theme “Building National Character Based on Tri Hita Karana in the Perspective of Education Management in Indonesia” presented two speakers, namely the Head of ISMAPI, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Bafadal, M.Pd., and Undiksha professor, Prof. Dr. A.A. Gede Agung, M.Pd.
Undiksha’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Cooperation Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., who represented the Rector, appreciated the implementation of this activity. He said that the topics raised in the webinar were very important to increase the understanding that education does not only pay attention to cognitive aspects but also the Basic Core Educational Outcomes, such as character, morals, social, and so on. These aspects are important because universities also have a role in realizing superior Human Resources, are competent in their scientific fields, and have a good personality or character. “This means that in the future, we can not only produce competent human resources in their fields but most importantly, we can create competent human resources in terms of character,” he said.
He further explained that character education is not only the school’s responsibility but also our responsibility. Therefore, through the independent learning curriculum created by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology, which is already in effect at various levels of education, it is hoped that it can improve the quality of education in Indonesia, both in literacy and character education of students.
Strengthening the Basic Core of Educational Outcomes has been carried out by Undiksha through the implementation of the Tri Hita Karana (three causes to prosperity) course. This philosophy with universal values invites students to establish good relationships with God, humans, and the environment.
Due to the importance of character to improve student competitiveness, Undiksha also integrates character education into the curriculum. In the future, steps to improve quality will continue to be taken. (hms)
