Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) is holding an Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) for the 2022/2023 academic year. This activity was officially opened by the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd, Monday (15/8/2022). Unlike the previous two years which took place online, this time PKKMB was held offline while still implementing the health protocol.
This PKKMB was attended by 3616 participants from various study programs spread across eight faculties, namely the Faculty of Languages and Arts, Faculty of Engineering and Vocational Studies, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Sports and Health, Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, Faculty of Economics, and Faculty of Medicine.
The opening of PKKM with the theme “Creating Smart, Independent, Adaptive, and Resilient Young Ganesha” was centered on the Undiksha Campus Ceremony Field on Udayana Street, Singaraja City. Undiksha Chancellor, I Nyoman Jampel conveyed that the PKKMB activities carried out this year were to provide new experience and knowledge, especially for new students. This activity is filled with a number of materials. The committee presents speakers who are reputable and competent in their respective fields. “I also hope that through this PKKMB activity, it can become a vehicle for promoting Undiksha to the wider community through digital media or social media,” he said.
On this occasion, he, who was accompanied by the Deputy Chancellors, also conveyed various proud achievements at the national level from Undiksha, especially in the last two years. Among them, in 2021, was ranked 13th nationally on the Student Rating Management System (Simkatmawa), received the first best award for Budget Performance Value, and also the third best for SAKIP (Government Agency Performance Accountability System). In 2022, Undiksha’s webometrics version is ranked 35th in Indonesia, and ranked 1st in Bali, and in the 2021 IKU achievement evaluation, Undiksha is ranked 8th out of 33 PTN BLU. In addition, in 2021 and 2022, Undiksha is ranked 11th nationally according to the Scimago Institutional Ranking. Many achievements at the national level were also made by students. Likewise at the international level.
This achievement, continued by the Chancellor of Jampel, is a barometer for the Undiksha academic community to continue to improve performance, both in the academic and non-academic fields to bring Undiksha to become a superior and competitive university.
He has great hopes for Undiksha Young Ganeshas to always synergize and collaborate in making Undiksha proud on the National and International level. “I always encourage students to participate in exploring and showing their potential to achieve the highest achievements both in the academic and non-academic fields, both at the national and international levels,” he said.
He emphasized that the role of lecturers is also very necessary in providing motivation and guidance to students who have the ability and potential to compete. “As Chancellor, I will fully support both morally and materially,” he said.
Delivered further, in responding to challenges in the industrial revolution era 4.0, Undiksha is always committed to creating superior Human Resources (HR). In the educational process, students are equipped with abilities of critical thinking, creative thinking, collaboration, communication, compassion, and computational thinking. These “Six “C”s are the main capital for our graduates when they enter the workforce. Because we don’t know what jobs will be available in the next 5 or 10 years. What challenges will we face in the future,” said the Chancellor who was born in 1959.
The PKKMB will run until August 22, 2022. In this activity, Undiksha prohibits hazing. Its implementation is asked to always prioritize harmony as a form of implementation of the Tri Hita Karana philosophy. (hms)
