Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) has launched a vision of becoming a superior university based on the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana in Asia in 2045. All faculties are racing to make this happen. One of them is the Undiksha Faculty of Engineering and Vocational (FTK) holding the 2nd International Conference on Vocational Education and Technology (IConVET 2019) at the Banyualit Hotel, Singaraja, Friday (01/10/2019).
The conference with the theme “Harmonization of TVET and Industrial Revolution 4.0 towards Society 5.0” presented two Keynote Speakers, namely Dr. Sophea Prum from Taylor’s University, Malaysia, and Kadek Yota Ernanda Aryanto, Ph.D. Ganesha University of Education, Indonesia. In addition, 70 presenters presented various types of material.
The Head of the Committee, I Made Putrama, S.T., M.Tech., said this activity was aimed at facilitating the meeting of academics, and researchers from outside academia, for example, practitioners from both teachers and students to exchange ideas about science focusing on vocational, education, and technology. “There are various types of topics discussed here. Of course, a lot of knowledge can be obtained by participants, “he said.
At this annual event, participants came from various educational institutions in 5 different countries, such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Japan, and Australia. Regarding the technicality of article publication, Putrama said that this time it was slightly different from the previous year. “There is a review process after this seminar by experts, then feedback is given to improve the paper. So that it can be published by indexed international publishers.” He said he graduated from the master’s program at the National University of Singapore. He also added that this seminar was one of the activities that were expected to be able to support the increase in publications for Undiksha as a whole.
The Dean of FTK, Dr. I Gede Sudirtha, S.Pd, M.Pd. represented the Chancellor of Undiksha to open this event. “This activity is a forum for practitioners and academics to convey ideas on developments in the fields of education, technology, and vocational in order to welcome Industrial Revolution 4.0 towards Society 5.0,” he said when met on the sidelines of the conference.
Through this activity, it is hoped that cooperation programs can be established with new institutions and make it a step for lecturers to increase the number of research and publications. He emphasized that the institution is very supportive if this breakthrough occurs. “Apart from that, we also motivate lecturers to take part in research forums and even joint research with foreign universities, such as the joint research collaboration that has been carried out with La Rochelle University, France,” he concluded.
Through this conference, it is also hoped that it can create a harmonious situation between education, technology, and vocational education with the industrial revolution 4.0 towards Society 5.0 which will certainly have a significant impact on the future development of science and technology. (hms)
