Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) through the Library Academic Support Unit (UPA) held a scientific seminar on entrepreneurship information services, Wednesday (26/7/2023). This seminar is intended to broaden horizons and increase understanding related to entrepreneurial information services and continue to contribute to the development of library information services in the future that are superior, creative, and innovative.
The Chairperson of the Committee, I Gusti Made Sutrisna, S.TP explained that the library is a means of providing information sources that can be used to improve the quality of Human Resources (HR). Article 4 of Law Number 43 of 2007 concerning Libraries states that libraries aim to provide services to users, increase their love of reading, and broaden their horizons and knowledge to educate the nation’s life. “Entrepreneurial information has a great opportunity to be developed considering that currently the information society is very broad, and the group of information users is growing. Therefore, the Undiksha Library UPA held this scientific seminar,” he explained.
This seminar is expected to broaden horizons and increase understanding, especially for librarians related to entrepreneurial information services, and continue to contribute to the development of superior, creative, and innovative library information services. He added, in optimizing entrepreneurial information services, the role of an entrepreneur is needed to provide scientific and technological assistance in an effort to improve the skills of independent entrepreneurs, increase information literacy, and increase the ability to market information packages to help the government’s poverty alleviation programs.
Head of Undiksha Academic and Student Affairs Bureau, Drs. I Made Yasa, M.Pd who represented the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Collaboration Undidksha expressed his appreciation for the holding of this seminar. According to him, strengthening understanding of entrepreneurship is very important as an effort to respond to policies from the Ministry. Therefore, it is very necessary to have entrepreneurship information services, one of which is managed by the library.
He also emphasized that this information service is not only by displaying books in galleries available at the library. More than that, it needs to be supported by Human Resources (HR) who understand entrepreneurship. In addition, there is also a need for innovation in information services, one of which is digital-based. Thus, access to information by the public can be wider and easier.
This seminar presented two speakers, namely D3 Lecturer at Udayana University Library, Dr. Putu Suartika, S.S., M.Sc., and Undiksha Management Science Lecturer, Dr. I Nengah Suarmanayasa, S.E., M.Sc. The participants consisted of members of the Bali Province Indonesian Higher Education Library Forum, members of the Indonesian Librarian Association (IPI) Bali, librarians, and library managers in Buleleng Regency.
This seminar is also networked with launching an entrepreneurship corner at the Undiksha Library. This facility can be utilized by the entire Undiksha academic community as well as by the general public.
