Singaraja- The Undiksha Faculty of Education (FIP) continues to improve the quality of journal management. This was done through the Workshop on Management of Scientific Journals Based on Open Journal Systems (OJS) 2 and OJS 3 in the Video Conference Room, UPT ICT Undiksha Building, Wednesday (12/2/2020). This activity was held in order to provide training for prospective reviewers and editors to manage Journals at Undiksha based on OJS 2 and OJS 3.
FIP Journal and Publication Team Secretary, Dr. I Wayan Widiana, S.Pd., M.Pd., said that this workshop was designed to increase the professionalism of journal management. “This activity is designed to increase the professionalism of journal managers. To be professional, both reviewers and editors are required to be able to use OJS. Currently, Undiksha is already using OJS 2, and will now be trained to use OJS 3,” he said.
The success of this program requires the commitment of all journal managers at Undiksha to improve quality so that they can penetrate the Scopus index. “As journal managers, we have the same vision and passion. So that one of the journals at Undiksha can become a Scopus-indexed journal,” he said. On that occasion too, Widiana said there would be a program open-recruitment, to manage the Undiksha journal where later the editors and reviewers will not only be filled by Undiksha lecturers but also lecturers from outside.
In addition, Widiana who also serves as Deputy Dean II of FIP emphasized that as a form of boosting journals and publications, her faculty has formed a special team. “FIP has formed a Journal and Publication Development Team by the Dean who hopes that the team can realize Undiksha has Scopus-indexed journals. Apart from that, this team will also make technical guidelines (technical guidelines, ed) so that all FIP students are required to publish articles in Sinta-indexed journals,” he said.
The same thing was expressed by the Dean of FIP, Dr. I Ketut Gading, M.Psi. This activity is expected to increase the professionalism of FIP journal managers in particular, and Undiksha in general. “I hope that through this workshop I can increase the professionalism of the journal management team which will later contribute to increasing the clustering of universities and faculties,” he said in his office.
The Gianyar-born dean said the new journal management system would definitely continue to develop. Therefore, the management team will need training in using systems, such as OJS 2 and OJS 3. Gading added that journals are a medium for writers to publish scientific work, especially scientific articles. “Lecturers’ scientific publications will have significant implications for university rankings. And through this activity, it is hoped that one or two journals at Undiksha can be indexed by Scopus, which indicates that the journal has an international reputation,” he concluded. (hms)
