Singaraja- Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) organized the 7th National Seminar on Community Service or Seminar Nasional Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (Senadimas), Thursday (29/9/2022). The seminar, which took place online, accommodated the publication of the results of community service that the servants had carried out by prioritizing the innovation side in improving the community’s quality of life and the nation’s competitiveness.
The Committee head, Putu Indah Rahmawati, Ph.D., said that this year’s Senadimas carries the theme “Supporting Indonesia in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Through Community Service”. This seminar was attended by 301 participants who had undergone a rigorous selection stage and passed to be disseminated.
This seminar presented three main speakers: Prof. Dr. Okid Parama Astirin, M.S. from Universitas Sebelas Maret, Dr. rer.nat. I Wayan Karyasa, S.Pd., M.Sc., from Undiksha, has experience as a speaker and National Pemonev DRPM Kemenristekdikti, and Dr. Ni Made Ary Widiastini, S.St.Par., M.Par., as the best service lecturer from Undiksha. “We hope this seminar can motivate academics to conduct community service,” said Indah Rahmawati.
Undiksha Rector, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., appreciated Undiksha Institute for Research and Community Service for organizing this seminar. It is said that community service is one of the downstream research products. Therefore, disseminating research products to the community must continue so that the university is not considered an ivory tower. “Universities, especially Undiksha, must always be present in society by providing solutions to problems that arise in society. Undiksha always strives to provide benefits to the community. One of the activities we do is through the implementation of Community Service,” he said.
He said the seminar’s theme triggered academics or servants to contribute to realizing sustainable development goals. “We can start from our individuals and collaborate,” he said.
As an academic institution, Undiksha, said Jampel, is involved in realizing sustainable development through the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely education and teaching, research, and community service. “Undiksha as an academic institution continues to improve. This is shown by the improvement in the quality of human resources, the quality of the teaching and learning process, the number of publications, the number of registered Intellectual Property products, student achievements both nationally and internationally, improving the quality of graduates, and other indicators,” he explained.
He added that synergy between universities, government, industry, and society is needed to realize the SDGs. “This is important to do to accelerate development,” he added. (hms)
