Singaraj- Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) through the Law Study Program, Department of Law and Citizenship, Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, held a public lecture with the theme “Legal Sociological Study Against Radicalism and Terrorism,” Tuesday (25/10/2022).
This public lecture presented PLH (on duty) of the Buleleng State Prosecutor head, Soesilo, S.H., M.H., as a speaker, accompanied by the Buleleng State Attorney Intelligence head, Anak Agung Ngurah Jayalantara as moderator. This public lecture was attended by Undiksha students, Department of Law and Citizenship.
On this occasion, Soesilo appreciated Undiksha’s collaboration, especially the Law Study Program in organizing this activity. Specifically for the topics presented, it was emphasized that radicalism and terrorism are acts that violate the law. This action should be watched out for and resisted by all levels of society, including students, by strengthening understanding of Pancasila values.
He further conveyed that the university have an extraordinary role in preventing radicalism and terrorism, especially in the law study program, students have received anti-terrorism courses. “Higher Education’s support for the study of the sociology of law against radicalism and terrorism is extraordinary,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Undiksha Law and Citizenship Department, Dr. Dewa Gede Sudika Mangku, S.H., LL.M., said that this public lecture was the second time it had been held by the Law sciences Study Program together with the Buleleng State Prosecutor. This activity is a space to provide information and experience to students, especially in the 5th semester, regarding the law enforcement process for perpetrators of radicalism and terrorism in Indonesia. “How was explained earlier, he was heavily involved in handling major cases related to terrorism,” he explained.
Apart from this public lecture, previously, the Undiksha Law Study Program also held a public lecture on law enforcement through restorative justice. Through this activity, students gain theoretical and practical knowledge because the speakers presented were practitioners. (hms)
