Singaraja- Undiksha Laboratory School solidifies the implementation of an Independent Curriculum in the era of Independent Learning, which is the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology policy. One of the steps taken is to strengthen the understanding and capacity of teachers through workshops on Tuesday (18/10/2022).
The workshop, which took place at the school Auditorium, presented Undiksha’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I as a resource person. The participants were teachers from Early Childhood Education to high school.
This activity was opened by the Director of Undiksha Laboratory School, Dr. Ida Bagus Made Astawa, M.Si. He said that his school had pioneered the implementation of the Independent Curriculum from Early Childhood Education to high school levels in collaboration with driving schools. Quality improvement efforts continue to be made, one of which is through this workshop. “All levels of education at this Lab School have started pioneering. Hopefully in the next school year we can further improve the implementation of the independent curriculum, it can be better,” he explained.
According to him, implementing this curriculum does not only rely on students’ readiness. More important than that is the readiness of supporting facilities, including human resources, namely teachers, and the involvement of practitioners. “Because if the independent learning is not supported by infrastructure, of course, we will not be able to implement it, let alone human resources who need practitioners,” he added.
Meanwhile, Rasben Dantes said that the Independent Curriculum is a form of educational transformation that is actualized through educational units with the same concept, both at the early childhood, elementary, and high school levels. He assessed that this curriculum allows students to study fields of study according to their fashion and talents, besides having to study compulsory fields of study.
Further conveyed, the Merdeka Curriculum is a very good moment to make improvements and improve quality. It is believed that Undiksha Laboratory School, which has good infrastructure and human resources and is under Undiksha, can implement the curriculum well. “I am very sure that this Lab School with a gradual process, will become an increasingly qualified school in the future. I hope all teachers will remain enthusiastic, continue to devote themselves to improving the quality of schools, educate our children, and produce superior human resources, “he said.
He added that implementing an independent curriculum needs to be supported by innovation and adaptive attitudes from teachers. This is expected to continue to be grown. “So from what I see today, many young teachers, the innovations they make can improve the teaching and learning process. Senior teachers are also the same,” concluded Rasben Dantes. (hms)
