Singaraja- The Ganesha Smart Park activity launched by the Mathematics Department at Ganesha Education University (Undiksha) in collaboration with the Buleleng Social Community (BSC) continues to roll out. After Padang Bulian Village, Temukus Village, Pangkung Paruk Village, and Dencarik Village, this voluntary teaching activity program targets Kerobokan Village which opened on March 23, 2019, and Suwug Village on March 31, 2019.
The initiator of the activity, Ratih Ayu Apsari, S.Pd., M.Sc., M.Pd. who is also a lecturer at the Undiksha Mathematics Department, explained that this activity was an effort to help children in the Buleleng area learn, especially mathematics, in a fun way and integrated with other subjects and life skills. Apart from that, it is also to increase the social sensitivity of Mathematics Department students, as well as train communication and interaction with students, school, and society. “So here we don’t just learn to share, we come with the aim of giving what we have, namely knowledge. Instead, we share to learn. “This means being aware of one’s limitations and shortcomings and for this reason being ready to accept new insights, values, skills and abilities, traditions and culture that exist in society,” she explained.
Chairman of BSC, Made Eka Tirtaya, S.E appreciated the implementation of this activity. It is hoped that it can increase children’s knowledge. “I am very grateful to be given the trust of donors who are enthusiastic about the opening of this teaching class. We always use the funds provided to prepare materials, tools, and learning resources. “Hopefully this effort will have a good impact on us and society,” he said. Meanwhile, at the opening at SD 1 Kerobokan, the Head of the Mathematics Department, Dr. Gede Suweken, M.Sc. emphasized that to carry out this activity, intensive coordination is needed between teachers, school students, parents, and the village government. “Hopefully this activity will provide benefits for students and schools,” he said. This activity, which was initiated in April 2017, also involved distributing bags and stationery to participants. The plan is that learning activities will take place every Sunday. (win)
