The post-Covid-19 pandemic is a new challenge that must be faced in the future, including by universities. The new order of life gave rise to a different situation. For Undiksha this must be passed and continue to take strategic steps to continue to realize Undiksha as a superior and competitive university. Realizing this target, it is necessary to build the same commitment to the academic community.
The post-Covid-19 pandemic will bring major changes to all aspects of our lives, including (1) every lecturer/teacher will get used to using online platforms to present their learning materials; (2) every student is ready to accept their learning online; (3) we and the whole society are starting to be aware of adopting a healthy lifestyle, (4) everyone erodes their individualistic attitude and raises an attitude of concern for others, and several other changes.
The use of online technology in carrying out daily activities is the most significant change. After Covid 19, there are lots of activities that can be done online, such as meetings, seminars, and training, without having to meet in person (face to face). Lots of operational costs can be reduced so that the efficiency of funds that occur can be used for other, more innovative activities. Undiksha wants to take advantage of this momentum to make some changes internally both in the academic and non-academic fields. Undiksha as an academic institution must continue to provide services to all of its stakeholders, especially in implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
The development of higher education cannot be separated from challenges. The challenges in this globalization era are centered on 5 (five) main issues, namely: (1) the ability to elaborate and optimize technology following the spirit of revolution 4.0, (2) alignment of various academic policies so that they refer to institutional clustering towards excellent universities, ( 3) restructuring by aligning the Tri Dharma paradigm of Higher Education so that it is in line with the demands of the times, (4) reorienting the curriculum, digitizing learning and strengthening online blended learning to produce superior and competitive human resources (HR), and (5) the ability of each PT to carry out downstream technology products by strengthening the management of Dharma research and community service.
In 2021, this challenge must be answered by Undiksha by reorienting the preparation of programs and activities that are aligned with their budget allocations. This challenge is used as a trigger for multipurpose innovation by Undiksha as currently billed by society. The planning and implementation of various programs of higher education activities are adjusted and adapted to the needs of the world of work, namely following market needs and in line with the wishes of the investors of life. The research conducted is also encouraged to be able to produce appropriate technology products accompanied by compatible scientific publications to be able to boost the downstream program and achieve a world-class university.
Referring to the challenges of the global world and the general policy of developing higher education, in 2021, Undiksha has determined at least five priority programs that must be referred to and developed by all academics, namely: (1) refer to and encourage the establishment of Undiksha’s excellence in Asia in 2045, ( 2) significantly strengthen the increase in higher education clustering, (3) encourage the strengthening and improvement of components and aspects of accreditation of institutions and study programs, (4) refer and support the achievement of performance contracts between the ministry of education and culture with the chancellor, and (5) strengthen and accelerate the achievement restructuring institutional performance and producing superior human resources.
To realize this program, it is necessary to support the development of various aspects, including digitizing learning, strengthening e-learning content, scientific publications, and obtaining intellectual property rights or patents for lecturers and students. Besides that, the programs developed are also directed at achieving independent status in the field of research and service from an institutional perspective. In the field of facilities and infrastructure as well as human resources, the program is also directed at efforts to realize the idealization of the ratio of human resources to services on all fronts, as well as the realization of adequate facilities and infrastructure for the birth of superior and competitive human resources. In the field of student affairs, the strategy developed can be through strengthening student achievement networks, especially those of an academic nature without neglecting the development of student talents and interests.
Based on this basic strategy, in 2021, there will be an emphasis and priority programs that are superior and at the same time a barometer of the effectiveness of the program itself. In the field of education and collaboration, the flagship programs at least include: (1) strengthening internationalization at home, (2) increasing scientific publications, (3) increasing the accreditation status of institutions and study programs, (4) strengthening the quality of learning, (5) strengthening the curriculum, especially in the vocational field, (6) laboratory accreditation, (7) strengthening professional certification institutions, (8) increasing productivity and effectiveness of cooperation, (9) strengthening research investment, and (10) increasing innovation downstream. Meanwhile, in the areas of administration, finance, and human resources, the program of activities focuses on (1) accelerating HR qualifications, (2) normalizing the ratio of professors and head lecturers, (3) capitalizing human resources and assets, (4) strengthening asset management and HR, (5) increasing digitalization of institutional services, (6) optimizing BPU performance, (7) strengthening financial governance, (8) fulfilling the ideal ratio of facilities and infrastructure, (9) increasing income generating, and (10) implementing E-Budgetng in total. In the field of student affairs, the programs developed refer to (1) increasing academic and non-academic achievements, (2) increasing Pimnas achievements, (3) fostering talents and interests, (4) increasing student publications, (5) strengthening the management of student organizations, (6) increasing prestigious student work, (7) improving UKM performance, (8) strengthening soft skills and student entrepreneurs, (9) diversifying student achievement programs, and (10) optimizing income generating (scholarships).
