Singaraja- The Faculty of Engineering and Vocational Education at the Ganesha University of Education (FTK-Undiksha) is again holding the “International Conference on Vocational Education and Technology (IConVET)”, Saturday (7/11/2020). This virtual conference is a medium for obtaining input regarding Human Resources (HR) innovations in the vocational and technological fields so that they are more competent and competitive, especially in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 and the new normal.
This conference presented three speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Thomas Kohler from Dresden University of Technology, Germany, Prof. Dr. Drs. Putu Sudira, MP., from Yogyakarta State University, Indonesia, and Associate Prof. Ferry Jie, Ph.D., from Edith Cowan University, Australia.
The Head of the Committee, Gede Aditra Pradnyana, S.Kom., M.Kom., explained that this conference carried the main theme “Future of TVET Graduates: Developing Talent for Industry 4.0 and The New Normal”. While the special themes are: Education (Electrical Engineering Education, Family Welfare Education, Technology and Vocational Education, Informatics Engineering Education, Mechanical Engineering Education), Vocational and Vocational (Casting, Dressmaking, Beauty, Tourism), Informatics Management, Informatics and Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Community Service in the vocational and technology fields.
The conference participants came from various countries, namely Indonesia, Taiwan, the Netherlands, Iraq, and Australia. “This conference is intended to obtain the latest information regarding the results of studies, research results, development, thoughts, and studies, especially in the fields of vocational and technology. In addition, it is also to get an overview, input, and evaluation from government agencies, private sector, professionals, lecturers, teachers, alumni, and students regarding innovation in the vocational and technological fields,” he explained.
Innovation in the vocational and technological fields, according to this young lecturer, is very important in the midst of the industrial revolution 4.0. No less important, this also needs to be equipped with entrepreneurial skills and building relationships with stakeholders other. “We hope this conference will really provide benefits,” he said.
Apart from presenting three speakers, the conference, which is the third time, also received 105 articles from students, educators, researchers, and practitioners from dozens of universities and institutions. However, based on the review results, only 86 articles passed for presentation.
Undiksha Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Cooperation Affairs, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., in his speech, appreciated the holding of this conference. “Even in a pandemic situation, we can still organize activities like this. Of course, this is a very positive thing,” he said. This conference provides knowledge about vocational and technology. According to him, this is very important to create competitive human resources. “This conference brings academics, experts, researchers to share experiences and knowledge,” he said. (hms)
