Singaraja- The implementation of the Independent MBKM program by the Faculty of Technic and Vocational Education (FTK) at Undiksha, in collaboration with PT. Dago Engeneering, Bandung, has successfully concluded on July 11, 2024. The research and development program, themed “Smart Green Garden,” ran for one semester and resulted in the creation of an agricultural system based on the Internet of Things (IoT).
The program began in February 2024, involving several students who designed an IoT-based agricultural system and hydroponic setup through a demonstration plot at Undiksha Jinengdalem Campus. During its development, the team prepared the necessary framework, from infrastructure and facilities to vegetable seed planting and maintenance. This program resulted in the creation of a prototype smart greenhouse. Additionally, the team developed systems incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) for pest detection and plant growth monitoring. Furthermore, the team successfully integrated the IoT system in hydroponics with a mobile website, enabling online access to all devices. The agricultural system also promotes the use of renewable energy, realized by the team through the integration of solar panels.
The project’s closing ceremony included a vegetable harvest, attended by the Vice Rector of Undiksha for Academic and Cooperation Undiksha, Pro. Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I. He expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the Independent MBKM program, emphasizing that MBKM provides students with opportunities to enhance their competencies through learning outside the classroom or their study program. He also highlighted the importance of students developing collaboration skills with teams from different disciplines. “I believe that such collaborations will continue to be necessary in the future.” He stated.
Furthermore, Undiksha continues to optimize the implementation of the Independent MBKM program by strengthening and expanding cooperation with both higher education institutions and the business and industrial sectors (DUDI). These efforts are aimed at maintaining strong support from FTK Undiksha.
In addition, the Main Director of PT. Dago Engineering, Putu Suka Narendra, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration with FTK Undiksha in enhancing students competencies. He was particularly proud of the development of the IoT-based agricultural system, which was highly regarded despite the absence of involvement from agricultural experts. This program is expected to continue to develop along with the ongoing collaboration that has been established.
