Singaraja- Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) encourages students to be able to innovate and be creative in the midst of the digital era. This effort is very important to increase competitiveness and to support the progress of the nation and state. This statement was revealed in the opening ceremony of the National Seminar held by the Informatics Engineering Department Student Association, Faculty of Engineering and Vocational, Monday (31/10/2022).
The seminar is a series of Informatics Engineering Association student’s Anniversary titled Information Technology Grand Celebration (INTEGER) #4 with the theme “The Roll of Technology for Advance Indonesia.” The event was welcomed online by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahudin Uno, M.B.A., and opened by Undiksha’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I.
On this occasion, Minister Sandiaga Uno said that the potential of Indonesia’s digital economy continues to grow by almost 50 percent every year. In 2025 the value of the digital economy is predicted to reach 150 billion dollars, dominated by e-commerce transactions. In this case, he also encouraged students to contribute through the development of the creative economy and specifically in the form of start-ups.
Further conveyed, the development of the creative economy can be adjusted to the region’s potential, one of which is the tourism sector which is now in Buleleng Regency quite developed, such as Sudaji Tourism Village, Pemuteran Tourism Village, and so on. He hopes that Undiksha can utilize this opportunity by preparing reliable talents. He also emphasized that the development of the creative economy needs to be supported by the ability to innovate, adapt, and collaborate.
Undiksha Vice Rector, Rasben Dantes, conveyed that the speech delivered by Minister Sandiaga Uno was very inspiring and motivating. He emphasized that Undiksha, as an academic institution, is committed to always being able to contribute to the progress of the region, the progress of the nation, and the state. In addition, it also encourages H.M.J. Informatics Engineering students to be able to utilize technology for Indonesia’s future progress. “Currently, we are in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. As Mr. Sandiaga Uno said, this is the digital era. The era of young people being able to innovate, and be creative. So he motivates young people in the future to be one of the contributors to the progress of this nation and country through start-ups and businesses that can be done,” he said.
The Faculty of Engineering and Vocational, especially the Department of Informatics Engineering, has taken steps to realize competitive and superior graduates. In addition, it has also contributed a lot to Undiksha’s achievements, both in the Main Performance Indicators (I.K.U.), student performance, webometrics, and so on. In the future, the faculties and departments in it are expected to continue to take steps to improve quality. In addition, it is also maximized to implement the Freedom to Learn Independent Campus or Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, which is one of the flagship programs of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. “I would like to say that FTK has contributed to MBKM. Hopefully, this will be well maintained and continuously improved, both in quantity and quality,” he added.
The Dean of the Faculty of engineering and vocational Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Gede Sudirtha, S.Pd., M.Pd., stated that his faculty had supported creative economic development. One of them is in the Munti Gunung area, Karangasem Regency. This is strived to continue to grow. “Hopefully, we can develop it this year, including in Sudaji Village. Hopefully, we can contribute through the application of technology and knowledge.
The expansion of cooperation will also continue to FTK. Undiksha, both at national and international. The program is designed to strengthen MBKM and, in general, related to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. “Finally, we established cooperation with the Ministry of Villages.
