Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) participated in the Indonesia Higher Education Expo (IHEE) held by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Dili, Timor Leste, from 25 to 27 April 2019. This event was not only a medium for introducing the institution, but also a selection. admission of new students. “We don’t only provide information related to universities. “But we also immediately carry out a selection,” said Deputy Chancellor I Undiksha, Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Putu Arnyana, M.Si when confirmed, Friday (26/4/2019).
The former Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA) Undiksha explained that there were 35 high school/vocational school students who took part in the selection after previously being given socialization regarding education at Undiksha and the study programs offered. “Socialization is carried out through stands. We were also given special times. “Quite a lot of people are interested in taking part in the selection,” he explained.
The students, he continued, were quite interested in several study programs, such as Information Engineering Education, Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, Management, English Language Education, and Legal Studies. “We have prepared the test questions. “This is an independent selection route,” he explained. Even though the participants will be declared to have passed the selection, it is possible that not all of them will be able to take part in the 2019/2020 academic year lectures at Undiksha. “The school year here (Timor Leste-ed) is not the same as in Indonesia. The new students graduate in December. So those who can go to college will be those who graduated from high school/vocational school last year. Meanwhile, those who are still in class XII will now join next year. “The value of the selection is still recognized,” said Arnyana.
Even though the countries are different, Undiksha emphasized that it is trying to impose universal education costs. Single Tuition Fee (UKT) is not differentiated. In terms of scholarships, efforts are also made to be available. “Usually for students from abroad, the fees are differentiated. “But we are trying to do the same as domestic students,” he said.
According to the academics from Gianyar Regency, the presence of students from abroad is very important to support the internationalization at home program launched by the Chancellor in 2019, in addition to institutional accreditation. “This is important to improve the grade of the institution. “Especially in supporting internationalization,” he added.
