Singaraja- Coinciding with the commemoration of Heroes’ Day, Tuesday (11/10/2020), Undiksha’s Faculty of Law and Social Sciences (FHIS) is holding an International Conference on Law, Social Sciences and Education (ICLSSE). The conference, which is entering the second time, is part of a series of implementations of the 2020 HISPISI Communication Forum which carries the theme “Entering the New Normal Society”.
This activity was opened by the Dean of FHIS, Prof. Dr. Sukadi, M.Pd., M.Ed. He conveyed that the presence of the Covid-19 pandemic and the presence of the new normal era of society had triggered changes in people’s attitudes and behavior. It is undeniable that many social problems arise from social, political, cultural, economic, legal, and educational perspectives. “That’s why the aim of the webinar is to discuss and examine what experts or practitioners of the social sciences, law, and social education can participate in building society in entering this new era,” he said.
This international seminar presents Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan as the keynote speaker. He is Deputy Rector II of Undiksha and at the same time Chairperson of the Representative/Assistant Chancellor II Forum of PTNs throughout Indonesia. In addition, there were also three speakers namely Prof. Dr. Warsono, M.S., from Surabaya State University, Indonesia; Nico Irawan, S.S., M.Pd, from the International College of Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep, Thailand; and Prof. Madya Dr. Vishalache Balakrishnan from the University of Malaya, Malaysia.
Keynote speaker, I Wayan Lasmawan conveyed that the Covid-19 pandemic has had an impact on various sectors of people’s lives, starting from the individual side to the social, cultural, economic, political, and legal levels. One of these changes occurs in patterns of human interaction, such as ways of thinking, communicating, and behaving. According to him, it is time for social science to emerge as one of the answers to overcome this reality. “The study of IPS education is the human being himself. How he lives in society and how he lives to make this society better. In fact, whatever problems every human being in this world faces, when he understands and understands what social studies education really is and how the logic is taught in social studies education, no matter how serious the problem is, it will pass,” he said.
This statement shows social science as an autonomous and synthetic discipline. This is because, with the scalpel attached to it, social science has basically anticipated the early problems of life to make society more critical, innovative, and wise, and always prioritizes the human dimension in all movements of thought, attitude, behavior, and expectations. future. Social science has a reliable role as a vehicle for fostering culture and human character so that in the future they become citizens with strong and resilient character in the midst of global challenges as well as facing the Covid-19 pandemic. But when problems arise and we are faced with a problem, then we realize that social studies education is important,” he said. For this reason, it is hoped that IPS education will receive more serious attention from all parties, especially in the world of education.
On another occasion, the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Dewa Gede Sudika Mangku, S.H., LL.M stated that this international seminar was held for the second time, a series of HISPISI 2020 activities, for the first time Undiksha especially FHIS was appointed to host HISPISI communications. (rls)
