The Engineering and Vocational Faculty (FTK) of Ganesha Education University (Undiksha) does not only focus on improving the academic quality of students. But it is also non-academic, one of which is providing entrepreneurial knowledge. This is very important as a preparation for facing increasingly tight competition in the world of work, especially in Industry 4.0. “We at FTK prepare graduates who can compete through non-academic activities. Seminars are one of them. “This is to increase insight regarding how to build creativity,” said the Dean of FTK, Dr. Gede Sudirtha, S.Pd., M.Pd., on the sidelines of opening the End of Year Performance and Entrepreneurship Seminar, Monday (19/11/2018).
It was further stated that so far quite a lot of graduates from this faculty are working in the world of education. Meanwhile, for entrepreneurs, this has not yet emerged. This is a focus to be addressed early on. “For those who graduate from education, there are already those who are absorbed in the world of education. But we can’t rely on that alone. What does the future look like, what fields do graduates need to be prepared for? I challenge the head of the department, to please cooperate. “If we only think about it here, I’m sure we won’t be able to get maximum study material,” he said.
Support from related stakeholders is also expected to improve the quality of graduates, one of which is alumni. At the entrepreneurship seminar which took place at the Undiksha Auditorium, several alumni were presented. They have been successful in the business world. “We need to invite alumni. They have to contribute to us. Whisper us,” he stressed.
Especially for end-of-year performances, he added as a trigger to balance academic and non-academic activities. “In the future, we will not only focus on classroom learning. But we provide opportunities for students to be creative. “We also support job fair activities,” he concluded. (hms)
