Singaraja– Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) continues to strengthen the capabilities of skills students. This is an effort to increase competitiveness. “How can students develop forms of competence in the form of soft skills, how do students work together, collaborate or something else,” said Undiksha Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni and Public Relations, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., when opening the webinar, Friday (20/11/2020).
The webinar, which was attended by hundreds of students, presented Jero Jemiwi, a speaker life coach, hypnotherapist, lecturer, and trainer. Suastra greatly appreciates his willingness to share knowledge and experience. This woman who was also a flight attendant is expected to be able to provide motivation for students, especially in facing challenges in the new normal era as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. “During this pandemic, students are experiencing many difficulties, one of which is in lectures. How to not give up with circumstances. This needs motivation, one of which is through this webinar,” he said.
Delivered further, in the midst of increasingly fierce competition, students must have soft skills. “What is important is not only academic ability. But also soft skills. How can we be responsible people,” added the vice-chancellor who previously served as Director of the Undiksha Postgraduate Program.
Resource person Jero Jemiwi said the challenges in the new normal era were unavoidable. Everyone will find it, including students. It’s just that there may be differences. “For example, students who live in boarding houses and those who live at home, of course, the challenges are different,” he said. These challenges cannot be avoided because there are still things that cannot be controlled. However, it is believed that there is a way to overcome it, namely through oneself or what he refers to as self-love. “Self-love is a tool that we can use to block, block, hack, and overcome various challenges. Self-love will give birth to inner power,” he said. He also conveyed that students also need to have an understanding of the challenges. Is the challenge seen as a problem or a lesson? This can be a foothold in making decisions or solutions to rise.
For information, the development of soft skills students has become an annual agenda for Undiksha. This time, the implementation only took place intermittently virtual, different from before which was packed with activities outbound. (hms)
