Singaraja- The Rector Election of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha for 2023-2027 was conducted on Wednesday (11/1/2023). In this election, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd., became the Rector Elected with total votes from the Senate and a power of attorney from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
Three rector candidates attended the election, which took place in Ganesha Room III Rectorate Undiksha, namely Dr. I Wayan Artanayasa, M.Pd, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd., and Dr. I Ketut Sudiana, M.Kes. The election was conducted directly. In this election, the Senate attended as many as 38 out of 39 people, each having one vote. While the Minister of Education and Research, represented by Plt. Secretary of the Directorate General of Diktiristek, Prof. Tjiktjik Srie Tjhajandarie, Ph.D., has 20 votes.
Based on the election results, the Rector candidate Prof. Lasmawan received a total vote, which was 58 votes. This result led him to be appointed the Elected Rector by the Undiksha Senate. After the election, Prof. Tjiktjik congratulated the election of Undiksha Rector, which had run conducive, supportive, and mutual support. “This is a very good moral strength as a modality for the elected Rector in developing Undiksha in the future,” she said, accompanied by Undiksha Rector, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd.
She hopes that the elected Rector can make Undiksha more advanced and able to continue the steps or extraordinary achievements that have been achieved under Prof. Jampel. “The hope is that this will not go backwards, it will be more advanced. It is also hoped that in the future Undiksha can become a superior university, a leading university not only at the national but also international level,” she added.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Undiksha Senate, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Sudiana, M.Pd., appreciated the Rector Election event running smoothly, starting from the selection, screening, and election. According to him, this is inseparable from the support of various parties. “This is because of all participants including the mass media, how to make Undiksha remain conducive. With harmonization we can work optimally to deliver the human resources that we will produce in the future,” he said.
As the elected Rector, Prof. Lasmawan also gave extraordinary appreciation to all members of the Undiksha Senate and the entire Undiksha academic community for their support and commitment. “I hope the process really shows that Undiksha is implementing harmonization because it can be seen even though the process is by voting but with a clean sweep of votes this is really something for me and Undiksha democracy,” he said.
His step to propose himself as a rector candidate to become the elected Rector, Lasmawan, carries a vision that is believed to support Undiksha’s progress in the future. His vision is to realize Undiksha as an International Reputable University in Education and Leadership (IRUEL). This vision is to continue what has been emphasized by the Rector, Prof. Jampel, in his leadership in the 2019-2023 period. “I must be able to make this happen within four years, and it is not easy,” he said,
One of the strategic programs designed to realize this vision is to make Undiksha which is now a Public Service Agency State University (PTN-BLU), to a Legal Entity (BH) PTN. Lasmawan, who currently still holds the position as Undiksha’s Vice Rector II, also hopes that IRUEL can be realized through a cooperation program that truly refers to the QS 100 world rankings and makes improvements, and strengthens learning infrastructure as Undiksha’s responsibility to the community.
