Singaraja- The internship program continues to be intensified by the Ganesha University of Education in order to provide experience for students. This program, which is in line with the Freedom to Learn, Independent Campus (MBKM) policy, is not only implemented in the country but also abroad. This program was welcomed by students, one of whom was from the Japanese Language Education study program, the Faculty of Languages and Arts. Eight students took part in an internship at the Nikko Alivila Hotel, in Okinawa, Japan for one semester.
Ahead of departure for the land of cherry blossoms, the student met with Undiksha’s Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I, Wednesday (24/8/2022). Also participating on this occasion was the Head of the Undiksha Cooperation and Public Relations Agency, I Made Windu Antara Kesiman, Ph.D., Head of the Undiksha FBS Collaboration Unit, Ni Nengah Suartini, Ph.D. with Made Hery Santosa, Ph.D., and Coordinator of the Education Study Program Japanese, I Wayan Sadyana, S.S., M.Sc.
On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Gede Rasben Dantes gave his appreciation to students who passed the internship program abroad. He explained this program is one of the leading programs which has been carried out massively since 2019 in line with the declaration of the internationalization at the home program by the Chancellor. Through this program, it is hoped that Undiksha can become a learning house for the entire international community and provide international experience for the Undiksha academic community, one of which is students. “One example is from the Japanese language education study program,” he said.
Student participation for one semester will also be equivalent to 20 credits for learning at the university. In this program, students are expected to be able to improve competence which can later be used as a provision to face the world of work and other competitions. “My message to these students is they will carry the name Undiksha so that they can show their performance and attitude the good ones because building trust is important so that sustainability can run well and have an impact on their juniors,” he said.
The Coordinator of the Japanese Language Education Study Program, I Wayan Sadyana, said that the enthusiasm of students to take part in an internship program in Japan was relatively high. He stressed, in this program, his party did not choose students arbitrarily. Selection is carried out strictly by looking at various aspects, such as attitude and language skills. “We don’t choose students arbitrarily, because we select them so that the program is not in vain, there is even a certain point that is selected directly by hotels or other industries in Japan. So attitude, Japanese language skills, English are considered,” he said.
One of the students which is Dewa Putu Eka Indrayana said he was happy to be able to take part in this program. He who is currently in semester VII must follow a series of selection stages. The same thing was conveyed by Ni Made Dea Sri Larasati. She was interested in joining this program because he really wanted to know more about Japan. Through this, he hopes to improve his Japanese language skills and understand more about culture. “Support from my family really influenced me to join this program,” she said.
This student left for Japan on August 28 2022 and took part in an internship program until January 2023. Implementation of apprenticeship programs to Japan and student mobility is not the first time it has been attended by Undiksha Japanese Language Education Study Program Students, but it has been running since 2018. Based on the evaluation, the results were very positive. Students’ Japanese language skills have increased significantly. This program is expected to continue and motivate other students. (hms)
