Singaraja – The Library of Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) welcomed a visit from the Library of the House of Representatives of the Republic Indonesia (DPR RI) on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. The purpose of the visit was to discuss opportunities for collaboration to optimize library services in both institutions.
The delegation was received by the Vice Rector of Undiksha for Academic and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., accompanied by the Head of Undiksha’s Library Academic Support Unit, Dr. Made Hery Wihardika Griadhi, S.H., M.Si. The discussion, conducted in a warm and constructive atmosphere, focused on several topics related to enhancing library services.
Prof. Rasben Dantes shared that Undiksha is committed to optimizing its library management as a learning resource center. He also highlighted the university’s plans to develop a digital library addressing the increasing role of information technology. He emphasized the importance of partnerships with other libraries to overcome resource limitations and improve services. “We hope that this meeting can result in a mutually beneficial collaboration between Undiksha and the DPR RI Library,” he stated.
Widya Chalid, the librarian leading the DPR RI delegation, underscored the critical need for collaboration between libraries in the modern era. “Libraries cannot fulfill all their needs independently. Knowledge sharing and cooperation, such as joint catalogs or e-paper services, are strategic solutions for the future,” he explained. Widya also shared that the DPR RI Library houses a collection of 29,000 books, including important legislative documents that can serve as valuable resources for public information, education, and research.
Additionally, Widya offered internship opportunities for Undiksha students, saying “Many students have interned with us. We are very open to accepting interns from Undiksha if there is interest.”
Apart from discussing potential cooperation, the visit was also an opportunity to exchange insight regarding the preparation of the DPR RI Library’s 2025 work plan. This activity is expected to pave the way for strategic collaborations that will significantly benefit the development of library services.
