Singaraja- The Postgraduate Program at the Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) held a Doctoral Promotion Examination, Wednesday (4/11/2020). The promovenda for this open exam is Surayanah, S.Pd., M.Pd, from the Basic Education Study Program. The implementation of the exam still prioritizes the Covid-19 prevention protocol.
Before the examination commission, the promovenda from Tegallinggah Village, Sukasada District, Buleleng Regency succeeded in defending the results of her research entitled “Development of a Higher Order Thinking Skills Oriented Science Test Tool with Elaboration of Tri Hita Karana Local Wisdom Values in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah”. This also led him to earn a doctorate. She is the 19th doctor who was “born” in the Undiksha Postgraduate Program.
The achievement of the academic title was also happily welcomed by her family, who have faithfully watched since the beginning of the exams. Surayanah admitted that she received full support from her family to study. “The support from the family is huge. Including supporting the completion of studies quickly,” she said when confirmed after the exam. This achievement does not make her complacent. She still has a desire to develop knowledge, especially in the field of basic education, and more specifically with regard to research results summarized in a dissertation.
Her commitment is in line with the message conveyed by the Promoter, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Dantes. They, do not stop learning even though they already hold the highest academic degree. “Don’t be like bananas. Which only bears fruit once, but gives birth to many, “he said. He also conveyed that now has entered an era of disruption, an era that is very vulnerable to change. This also needs to be anticipated. It is no less important that Surayanah, who is involved in education, is also expected to be able to apply the policies rolled out by the Ministry of Education and Culture, one of which is the freedom to learn.
Meanwhile, the Director of Postgraduate Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Gusti Putu Suharta, M.Sc., hopes that the graduates will become figures in accordance with the Undiksha Postgraduate motto, namely BAKTI (Characterised, Adaptive, Collaborative, Skilled and Inspirational). To realize this, his party has prepared a number of strategies. Such as preparing a curriculum that is relevant to needs, according to the times, regulations, and technological developments. In addition, his party also calculates the educational efficiency figures for all study programs that run every year. “We also encourage students to prepare research early and write articles. This must also be supported by maximum service from study programs, lecturers, and staff,” he concluded. (hms)
