Denpasar- Dozens of students at the Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) received scholarships from Bank Indonesia. It was symbolically handed over by the Head of Bank Indonesia Representative for Bali Province, Trisno Nugroho to the Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni and Public Relations of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., took place, Thursday (25/6/2020).
Trisno Nugroho said that the distribution of scholarships in the Province of Bali had started in 2003. Recipient students had to follow a strict selection process. The student is an example of a young generation who is smart, accomplished, and has the potential to become future leaders. It was also explained that this year’s distribution of Bank Indonesia scholarships to recipients would be carried out in two phases with a total nominal value of IDR 1,000,000.00/month for 10 months or IDR 10,000,000.00/student.
The provision of this scholarship is expected to be able to trigger the enthusiasm of students to show the best quality. In addition, students must also be able to innovate to respond to global challenges. “We hope that the students who receive this scholarship can become the best cadres who can develop regional potential,” he said.
In this scholarship program, Bank Indonesia has prepared a community for students, namely the Indonesian New Generation (GenBI). This community is a place to hone various kinds of intelligence and leadership talents.
Meanwhile, Prof. Suastra appreciated the program rolled out by Bank Indonesia for education. According to him, this scholarship is able to ease the burden on students, especially those from underprivileged families, but who have good academic abilities. “We thank Bank Indonesia, for giving attention to students, especially Undiksha through scholarships,” he said.
Delivered further, in 2020 there are 50 students who get scholarships. All of them have followed the selection stages, from administration to interviews. “This recipient has made achievements. That becomes one of the indicators as a recipient,” he said. He added, apart from receiving scholarships, students were also given education and training on character development, entrepreneurship, caring for the environment, and getting the GenBI network throughout Indonesia. “These opportunities must be utilized by recipient students, so they can improve their self-quality and become graduates who are competitive,” he concluded.
