Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) initiated cooperation with two universities in Japan, namely Kansai University and Tottori University. This collaboration is not only in the field of education but also in the development of Human Resources (HR).
The discussion on collaboration was carried out by the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd in the benchmarking agenda with the Association of Chancellors of Indonesian State Education Institutions (LPTK) on 7 and 9 June 2023.
Prof. Lasmawan explained that the collaboration that was expected to be established with the university was related to education and teaching as well as human resource development through student exchange programs, lecturer exchange programs, and research cooperation. Even specifically with Kansai University, the collaboration that was also initiated was the development and innovation of learning in the digital era and the era of disruption. The university has developed a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) program. This program is to provide students with opportunities to study in a wider global era at an affordable cost. In addition, COIL is a pedagogical innovation that applies collaborative teaching and learning for two or more countries facilitated by online communication. “This is really worth developing, including at Undiksha,” he said.
After this initial meeting, Prof. Lasmawan plans to invite Kansai University and Tottori University to visit Undiksha in order to discuss in more detail the opportunities for collaboration that can be carried out. “This (collaboration, ed) is an effort made by Undiksha as a part of the Rector Association of Indonesian State LPTKs in order to better translate or interpret the MBKM concept that has been launched and confirmed by the Minister,” he explained.
He further conveyed that cooperation with foreign universities, especially those entering the QS ranking, is a necessity for Undiksha as an effort to improve quality which ultimately has an impact on accelerating the realization of the university’s vision of “Becoming an Excellent University Based on the Tri Hita Karana Philosophy in Asia in 2045” and specifically to realize the Chancellor’s vision, namely to make Undiksha an International Reputable University in Education and Leadership (IRUEL). “That in the future Undiksha will really become a reference university for the international community, especially in the Asian region in the fields of education and leadership,” said the Chancellor from Bonyoh Village, Kintamani District, Bangli. He emphasized that the leadership referred to in his vision as rector is leadership in a broad sense, namely how Undiksha graduates can at least become leaders for themselves and leaders for their immediate environment. “And when they have succeeded in becoming leaders for themselves, for their immediate environment, it is possible that they will be trusted to become leaders in a wider segment or society,” he concluded.
