Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) pays serious attention to the sports sector. The introduction and development of new sports continue. One of them is collaborating with foreign parties, namely Gateway, Norway. The discussion took place, on Thursday (24/1/2019).
Peter Sorrum’s presence from Gateway was welcomed by Undiksha Deputy Chancellor IV, Drs. I Wayan Suarnajaya, M.A., Ph.D, in his office. On that occasion, Sorrum, who wore a light blue shirt, generally expressed his desire to collaborate with Undiksha regarding the implementation of short courses. In this case, there are a number of students from Norway who will come and study at FOK for four months.
Regarding this, Vice Rector Suarnajaya gave a positive response. This is not only a medium for sharing information and experiences, especially in the sports sector. More fundamentally than that, it is also to support the internationalization of institutions launched by the Chancellor in 2019. “Of course, we support cooperation that is aimed at institutional development,” he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Dean I of the Faculty of Sports and Health (FOK), Dr. I Ketut Yoda, S.Pd., M.Or., who also accompanied him, said that cooperation with foreign parties had been planned for a long time. When an offer appears and meets expectations, it is immediately welcomed. “This collaboration takes the form of a credit transfer for four months with 16 meetings,” he said.
It was further stated that in this collaboration, there will be a number of courses that have been selected with a total of 21 credits. These include diving, surfing, rafting, futsal, and beach volleyball. There are also supporting courses, such as recreational sports, learning planning, and exercise physiology. “They plan that after taking several courses, they will continue as sports teachers,” he said.
Especially for FOK, several sports have been taught to students. It is hoped that this collaboration will run better and become more popular. Moreover, the opportunity to compete is very large. “Several courses have been applied, such as diving, futsal, and beach volleyball. Some of us will collaborate with companies. Also includes yoga. “We also happen to have alumni who have master’s degrees focused on that,” explained Yoda. (hms)
