Singaraja- The Rector election of Universitas pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) period 2023-2027 will take place on January 11, 2023. This date was determined by the Undiksha Senate in a meeting on Tuesday (27/12).
The rector candidates who will compete in the election are Dr. I Wayan Artanayasa, S.Pd., M.Pd., Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd., and Prof. Dr. I Ketut Sudiana, M.Kes. The election will be conducted directly by the Undiksha Senate and the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristekdikti) or the representative.
The head of Undiksha Senate, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Sudiana, M.Pd., explained that the election rules had been discussed by the Senate in a special meeting and had been approved. The regulation is the detail of the Undiksha Senate Regulation Number 3 of 2022 concerning Technical Guidelines for Rector Election.
This election is expected to run smoothly, safely, peacefully, and always prioritize harmony. “Because after all the conditions are the main prerequisite for the continuity of the Education process at Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha,” he said.
The head of the Undiksha Rector Election Organizing Committee, Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Putu Arnyana, M.Si., admitted that the committee is ready to welcome the election stage. “We have prepared the things needed, and the most important thing is the ballots,” he explained.
Asked who would be present from the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Research to follow the vote, it was stated there was no certainty. “So far, there is no certainty who will be present from the ministry,” he said. He added that before the election, the three rector candidates would be interviewed by Kemdikbudristek. “Maybe the interview about how their vision in advancing the university. Therefore, the ministry will conduct an interview, but the schedule has not yet been determined,” he added.
For information, three rector candidates who will compete for the Undiksha Rector seat have followed the screening stage through direct voting from the Undiksha Senate. As a result, Lasmawan received 27 votes, Sudiana with 6 votes, and Artanayasa with 5 votes. In this screening, the three began with exposure to the vision and mission, and programs considered as strategies to make Undiksha better. (hms)
