Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) students succeeded in advancing to the national level in the National University Debating Championship which took place at Airlangga University, Surabaya, from 14 to 19 July 2019. For this, the team consisting of three students asked for support from the rector’s ranks. , Tuesday (9/7/2019). They were received by Vice Chancellor III, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd.
The students, Kadek Eva Yanthi Kusuma Dewi, Ni Wayan Vina Krisna Yanti, and Putu Yoga Satya Pratama. The team’s mentor, Nyoman Karina Wedhanti, S.Pd., M.Pd., revealed that before going to the national level, the team took part in a competition in Regional VIII which included Bali, NTB, and NTT. Of the 48 teams, they managed to win the top five rankings and immediately advanced to the national level. “Those who represent at the national level are in the top six. “Undiksha ranked fifth,” she said. The proud things are not limited to that. This Undiksha student also succeeded in winning the title of the best debater. “They debated in English with various motions. Intense coaching for about a month. “The opponent is quite tough,” she added.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Suastra appreciates this achievement and hopes that it can produce even more brilliant and higher-level achievements. “We hope to win at the national level. “It could be ASEAN, Asia, even the world,” he explained. This achievement, continued the Tojan Klungkung Village academic, is not only important for students. However, it is also able to support institutional rankings at national and international levels. “This is quite a big value. “We are encouraging students to continue to excel by intensifying coaching,” he concluded.
