Singaraja- The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of Education of Ganesha (Undiksha) held a curriculum development workshop for the D4 Applied Chemistry Study Program and the D4 Fisheries Biotechnology Study Program, Friday (23/9/2022). This follows an increase in status from D3 in the two study programs.
The workshop which took place at Hotel Puri Saron, Buleleng presented two speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Haryanti, M.S., from the Fisheries Research Center, National Research and Innovation Agency, and I Nyoman Gede Suma Artha from CV. Balizen, PT. Spice Incense Supa.
Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Gede Agus Beni Widana, M.Sc., said that this workshop was held until September 24, 2022, and was attended by related lecturer staff, business and industry players, and alumni. “We hope that the material presented by resource persons and input from business and industry players can produce a curriculum that can prepare graduates who are adaptive,” he said.
This event was opened by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Cooperation of Undiksha, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I. He, who represented the Chancellor, gave his appreciation to the faculties and study programs that had carried out curriculum development for the D4 Applied Chemistry Study Program and the D4 Fisheries Biotechnology Study Program. “We hope that the study program curriculum will receive input from relevant stakeholders,” he said.
He provides an overview of the things that need to be accommodated in the development of this curriculum. Among them, are related compulsory subjects that must be given by students, namely religious education, Indonesian language, Pancasila, and citizenship. Then there is also the addition of compulsory courses in the form of English and Tri Hita Karana. “Tri Hita Karana is one of the embodiments of Undiksha’s vision to become a Superior University Based on the Tri Hita Karana Philosophy in Asia in 2045. Therefore, all students at Undiksha, both diplomas and applied bachelor and academic education (S1) receive Tri Hita Karana in order for them to know how to build good character, maintain relationships with others, maintain harmony with God, protect the environment,” he emphasized.
Delivered further, in accordance with national standards of higher education, applied undergraduate students are required to take part in the Independent Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) program. In this program, students have the opportunity for 3 semesters to carry out activities outside the study program. “So I suggest to all my friends, like what we have compiled in the 2019 curriculum, we try to provide supporting competencies for applied scholars by taking cross-study courses within tertiary institutions, both within the faculty and outside. faculty. So this cross-study program course does not have to be taken outside the faculty but can be taken internally,” he emphasized.
In addition, students are also entitled to gain industry experience in accordance with their competence through an internship program for at least 1 semester. “In addition, there are lots of MBKM activities and programs, such as student exchanges because we will do equivalence to the courses that have been programmed in each study program,” he added. Through this experience, students, especially D4 Applied Chemistry Study Program and D4 Fisheries Biotechnology Study Program, can later become excellent and competitive graduates. (hms)
