Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) is currently revising the 2016 curriculum. This is not only for vocational and education but also non-education. Consolidating the design, a resource person from Brawijaya University, Malang, Didik Suprayoga, Ph.D., was presented, on Tuesday (23/4/2019).
Chair of the Undiksha Learning Development and Quality Assurance Institute (LPPPM), Prof. Dr. AAIN Marhaeni, M.A. explained that the revision was tailored to the needs of the world of work. The curriculum prepared is based on Outcome Based Education (OBE). “We want graduates who have high outcomes. This means having abilities that are relevant to the needs of the world of work. “Even before I graduate, there are already people recruiting for work,” she explained.
Curriculum preparation, he continued, must also clearly describe the challenges faced by graduates, such as in the 21st century, industrial revolution 4.0, the era of technology, and globalization. “This curriculum must be able to project needs for the next few years. So that graduates can be truly prepared. “We want this new curriculum to be applied in the 2019 academic year,” she said.
Meanwhile, Didik Suprayoga said that OBE is a system that focuses on what results students can achieve at the end of the learning experience. It involves the structuring of teaching and learning curricula, assessment, and reporting practices in education. “This also requires students to demonstrate the scientific abilities they have mastered and the skills they have learned,” he explained. Regarding OBE-based benefits, the curriculum is more coherent and focused, graduates are more relevant to the world of work and stakeholders, and quality improvements can be made continuously. (hms)
