Singaraja- The implementation of the 2020 Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) Real Work Lecture (KKN) is different from before. In the midst of the world still facing the Covid-19 pandemic, this annual program is carried out independently by students and is based on a network.
Head of the Undiksha KKN Center, Drs. I Putu Panca Adi, M.Pd., Tuesday (18/5/2020) explained that the Covid-19 pandemic disaster had never been predicted by anyone before. However, this situation did not stop Undiksha’s move to roll out the KKN program. In the midst of the industrial revolution 4.0, it was deemed appropriate to implement the program online or what is known as the Online-Based Independent KKN (KMbD). “Even though this pandemic ends in the near future, conventional KKN is still not possible to do. Feelings of anxiety, trauma, and fear seem to still linger in society and we are together as executors. For this reason, this year’s KKN pattern has been changed to become Online-based Independent KKN. exam. It will be held for 5 weeks, starting from 6 July to 5 August 2020,” he explained.
There are two concepts in this KKN, namely KKN independently, and its full implementation is carried out in an online or virtual mode. Independent, meaning that the implementation is carried out independently/individually by students, which of course is adapted to the knowledge and skills mastered to learn to solve various problems faced by society. “This is certainly contrary to the previous conventional KKN which was usually carried out together in one group,” he explained.
Meanwhile, online is carried out entirely starting from the observation stage of problems in the community, planning, and implementation, to the evaluation stage. “Thus, it can be said that KMBD is a pattern of KKN that is adaptive to the current situation and circumstances without reducing the essence of the meaning and purpose of KKN in general,” explained Panca Adi.
Head of Learning Development and Quality Assurance Institute(LTM) Undiksha, Prof. Dr. AAIN. Marhaeni, M.A., explained in general, the purpose of the KMbD is the same as the conventional one, which is to provide learning experiences to students through their involvement in finding, recognizing, analyzing potentials and problems and being able to solve community problems through the application of science and technology. The problems faced by the community specifically in this KKN are related to the Covid-19 pandemic. “The project that has been prepared aims to solve problems in society due to this pandemic. With the ability of students to solve the problems faced by the community, the final goal of the Community Service Program is automatically achieved,” she explained.
Regarding the target location of the KMbD, regionally it is not limited, participants can do it from their village of origin or current residence. The target community is determined by participants online, fulfilling the specified characteristics. “So the participants do not have to be in the same location as the target community. The number of target communities involved in Kmbd is between 5 and 10 people,” said Marhaeni. (hms)
