Badung- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) in 2022 is not only entrusted with implementing in-service Teacher Professional Education (PPG) but also Pre-service PPG. Facing this, the implementing committee strengthened the preparations that were discussed at the coordination meeting on 26 to 28 September 2022.
The meeting which took place in Kuta, Badung Regency also invited faculty leaders and related study program coordinators. The matters discussed were related to the readiness for the implementation of Pre-service PPG and the support of lecturer resources and other infrastructure facilities.
PPG Undiksha Coordinator, Drs. I Gede Nurjaya, M.Pd., explained that in 2022, Undiksha will get 133 applicants. Of these, only 126 people expressed their willingness. The implementation of this year’s Pre-service PPG is divided based on scientific clusters. Undiksha participants consist of the education sciences group, the language and literature family, the Natural Sciences family, the Physical Education, Health and Recreation family, and the social sciences family. In contrast to the previous Pre-service PPG which was based on the field of study.
Nurjaya said the division of participants was based on scientific clusters because the 2022 Pre-service PPG discussed or provided education more on pedagogical aspects. Another new thing is the structure of the curriculum. In terms of subjects, in this Pre-service PPG, there are core courses that must be followed by participants. Then participants are also given to choose courses called selective courses. In addition, tertiary institutions are also given the opportunity to develop special courses that are characteristic, which are called elective courses.
Delivered further, the implementation of this pre-service PPG simultaneously took place on September 29, 2022, which was also filled with an initial orientation. After that it is continued with lectures, both offline and blended, and the next stage which as a whole lasts for two semesters.
Undiksha previously had experience as an executor of Pre-service PPG. However, Nurjaya emphasized that maximum preparation was still being carried out, both the readiness of teaching lecturers and educational development partners. “We have HR readiness, especially for science courses. We are also ready to cooperate with educational development partners. Partner schools are also ready,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Cooperation of Undiksha, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., who gave directions online, said that currently, the government is trying to continue to increase the number of teachers and prospective teachers who are certified through the PPG program. Undiksha as an Education Personnel Education Institution (LPTK) is committed to supporting this. Therefore, the Undiksha PPG implementation team was asked to carry out this national program properly and better than before. “Likewise with the readiness of classrooms and so on. I hope to be well prepared,” he asked.
In addition to discussing the implementation of Pre-service PPG, this coordination meeting also discussed the preparation of UKMPPG in Category I Positions and reflections on in-depth PPG material in Category II Positions. (hms)
