Singaraja– Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) continues to show commitment to supporting the prevention of the spread of the Covid-19 Virus. This commitment was demonstrated by handing over the second phase of PPE assistance to the Buleleng District Hospital. This assistance was handed over directly by the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd. to the Director of Buleleng District Hospital, dr. Putu Arya Nugraha, Sp.PD, Monday (8/3/2021). The assistance was in the form of 400 hazmat suits, 10 boxes of surgical masks, 5 boxes of Vit Pad Swab Sample Transport medium, and 100 Google glasses. This assistance comes from the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia.
The Chancellor of Jampel revealed that the delivery of this assistance was a form of implementing the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, namely maintaining a harmonious relationship with God, others, and the environment as well as the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in the field of community service. “We as an institution that has a framework for implementing Tridharma and Tri Hita Karana are trying to be able to ease the burden on society and also how to lighten the burden on institutions dealing with Covid-19, namely health workers (health workers, red),” he said.
The official who was born in Nusa Dua also added that apart from Buleleng Hospital, assistance had also been distributed to teaching hospitals that had collaborated with Undiksha, such as Mangusada Hospital, Badung Regency and Wangaya Hospital, Denpasar, as well as institutions that handle Covid-19, such as the police. , and Kodim 1609 Buleleng. In addition to this activity entitled “UndikshaShare” there is also the procurement of sinks in a number of public places in the Buleleng Regency area, the distribution of food aid and masks, both by students and leaders who go directly to the community. “We also simultaneously provide education on how people follow government directives, namely by always washing hands, wearing masks and maintaining distance and maintaining personal health to jointly protect the health of other people,” he said.
The Director of the Buleleng District Hospital, Arya Nugraha really appreciates this assistance. According to him, even though currently the need for PPE has started to decrease, from around 100 sets per day to 50-60 sets, this assistance is still useful for health workers. “We need PPE according to the case. In the past, when it was still high, namely in August, September, and October one day you could spend 100 sets. Currently, there are around 50-60 sets,” he said. The official from Kayuputih Village, Banjar District added, so far PPE assistance has come from various parties, both individuals, agencies, and from ministries. “We are grateful to receive donations from the Chancellor of Undiksha which he said came from the Ministry of Education and Culture, then divided it for the Undiksha medical team, and the rest was given to us. This is moral and material support,” he concluded.
On this occasion, he stated that preventing the spread of Covid-19 could not only rely on the government, health workers, and institutions. However, it is highly hoped that there will be community participation to play an active role in promoting the 3M Program, namely washing hands, wearing masks, and maintaining distance. (hms)
