Singaraja- The academic community of Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) commemorated the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia through a flag ceremony, Saturday (17/8/2019). Through this momentum, the Chancellor, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd emphasized his commitment to realizing superior Human Resources (HR) for advanced Indonesia. “This has been an instruction from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, which is also an instruction from the President. We at Undiksha are ready to realize Superior Human Resources, which is also in line with the theme of commemorating Independence Day this time,” he said accompanied by Deputy Chancellor III, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd.
The former Dean of the Undiksha Faculty of Education stated that in fact the tertiary institution which already has a Faculty of Medicine has taken strategic steps to create superior human resources including realizing the vision of becoming a superior university based on the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana in Asia in 2045. One of them is creating a curriculum that is relevant to needs, including responding to the challenges of the 4.0 industrial revolution era. “Undiksha has made efforts to make that happen,” he said.
Realizing such human resources, it is also necessary to support the awareness of the entire academic community, including students who are members of it. In an era that is changing so fast, even shrouded in uncertainty, there needs to be a movement in self-improvement. Namely by cultivating a critical, creative, collaborative, and communicative attitude. These four things must also be strengthened again with character. “The general one is 4C. Undiksha added another 1C. Namely characters. This is important for the future,” he said.
Mastery of foreign languages, at least English and information technology is also imposed on students. According to the Chancellor of Jampel, this is to increase competitiveness. Not only domestically, but also at the international level. To support this, this university with A accreditation already has an International Center of English Excellence program. “In the past, he only got English language credits, now he has six credits. In the future, students may have to have a certificate of mastery of the English language, “added the Chancellor of Jampel. At the ceremony, the Chancellor of Undiksha also handed over the Satyadinding Karya Satya award to a number of lecturers who had served for 30 years. Through that, it is hoped that these academics will continue to work for the nation. (hms)
