Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) held a rally to commemorate National Education Day (Hardiknas), Tuesday (2/5/2023). This momentum is used as a reinforcement for the implementation of the Free Campus Independent Learning Policy (MBKM) which has been rolled out by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbudristek). In fact, Undiksha wants to maximize the implementation of the MBKM program independently.
Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd interprets National Education Day as the day for the nation’s liberation from ignorance, backwardness, and adversity towards a new era, namely to become a better nation for future generations.
He also mentioned education as a medium, as a pillar of development. This instrument must not collapse but still function to protect the nation’s generation. He sees that Indonesian Education has now given a new color to society, especially with the 24 Merdeka Learning platforms presented by the Minister of Education and Culture. The platform is seen as the answer to how education should be built, managed, and given to the community. “It’s just a matter of how all the education components are able to translate and be on the same track with the Minister’s policies. If there’s something that needs to be fixed, let’s fix it together. There is no great person in this world if he only thinks he is great. A person’s greatness is reflected and proven when he is able to communicate, collaborate, and invite others to create other greatness,” he said.
Undiksha as one of the Education Personnel Education Institutions (LPTK), is now not only producing prospective teachers but also in non-educational fields. So far, the steps taken by Undiksha as an institution are obedient to the government, including complying with Ministry policies, one of which is MBKM. In fact, Undiksha targets to be able to carry out MBKM independently which is currently running optimally. This requires good collaboration between academics.
Through the commemoration of this National Education Day, Prof. Lasmawan hopes that education in Indonesia is truly able to free every Indonesian person from ignorance and adversity, is able to produce human resources that are truly competitive, and become a trendsetter for the international community. Undiksha hopes that the implementation of education in the future can always be supported by harmonious togetherness, including in making Undiksha an International Reputable University in Education and Leadership.
