Singaraja– Commemorating Youth Pledge Day in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the Law and Citizenship Student Association (HMJ) at Ganesha University of Education held an RWP (Reading Writing Playing), Wednesday (28/10/2020).
This activity is a routine work program for HMJ Law and Citizenship which targets elementary schools and/or orphanages. The form of this community service program consists of social services including outreach, playing while learning, and handing over social assistance which was previously raised through donations and financial assistance from DIPA Undiksha Faculty of Law and Social Sciences.
This time, the activity targeted the Ananda Seva Dharma Orphanage, Sangsit Village, Buleleng Regency. The activity, which directly involved the children of the orphanage, had the theme “Empowering Youth Against Drugs with National Insight”. Through this theme, it is hoped that the children of the orphanage who are in their teens and are growing up will be able to understand the importance of nationalism in order to become young people of the nation’s next generation who are anti-drugs.
This activity was officially opened by the Head of the Department of Law and Citizenship, Dr. Dewa Gede Sudika Mangku, S.H., LL.M. He also handed over social assistance in the form of hand sanitizers, medical masks, soap, groceries, and ATK as well as reading books to the Chairperson of the Anandha Seva Dharma Orphanage Foundation, accompanied by the Coordinator of the Legal Studies Program, Ni Putu Rai Yuliartini S.H., M.H, Chair of the HMJ Law and Citizenship and Chair of the Committee.
The socialization session related to this activity presented two speakers who were students of the Undiksha Law Study Program, namely Kadek Teguh Werdi as the 2019 Generation Planning (Genre) Ambassador and Ni Made Celin Darayani as the 2020 Undiksha Princess. The presentation of material by Teguh Werdi discussed nationalism. He conveyed that nationalism must be nurtured from an early age to prepare young people who will be the next generation who love their homeland. Therefore, awareness is needed to love the motherland more, one of which is by increasing literacy activities (reading books). “Because one of the proofs of love for the motherland is realizing an advanced Indonesia. The progress of a country can be judged from the reading interest of citizens,” he explained.
Furthermore, the presentation of material by Celin Darayani discussed the urgency of drugs among adolescents. Indonesian youth as agents of change must create a positive environment and not fall into drugs. “It is better to prevent than to treat” is the right thing to instill and cultivate from an early age. Because young people are the relay of nation building, it is better to turn to contribute to the country than to waste time having fun with things that will harm the future.
The play-while-learning sessions range from quizzes with prizes, and games to hone concentration to building cooperation and a sense of kinship filled with joy and full of laughter from the committee and the orphanage children. The enthusiasm of the orphans was very clear in participating in this whole series of activities. The activity was officially closed by the Head of the Law and Citizenship Department, Dewa Sudika Mangku, and continued with giving mementos to all the orphans. “Hopefully our intentions, efforts, and sincerity today can become provisions in the future and be useful as they should be,” he said. This activity also received a very good response from the Chairperson of the Anandha Seva Dharma Orphanage Foundation when conveying his impression and message “Hopefully through this activity, the hope of the nation will be created,” he concluded.
