Singaraja- Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) continues to prepare space for students to develop competencies through a training program, one done through collaboration with Hilton Group. Students were given socialization of management training programs Tuesday (7/3/2023).
The socialization facilitated by Undiksha’s Student Career and Entrepreneurship Development Unit was attended by dozens of students from the D4 Hospitality Study Program, D4 English Study Program, and Family Welfare Education Study Program. This socialization was filled by Learning & Development Manager Hilton Bali Resort, Uchie Sukarto; Learning & Development Manager Jumana Bali Ungasan Resort, Yogi Puspadi; HR Officer Hilton Garden Inn Bali, Fista Klarista; Director of HR Jumana Bali Ungasan Resort, Agus Suariadi; and Learning & Development Manager Conrad Bali, Ariyanti.
The information conveyed through the socialization in the Undiksha Postgraduate Seminar Room was about the hotel profile, specifically the management training program and the mechanism for joining. The presentation of each hotel was greeted enthusiastically by the participants. Many participants stated they wanted to join the training program at Hilton Group.
The socialization was opened by Undiksha’s Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Public Relations, and Alumni, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd. He said that implementing training for students is very important to improve competence. Through this program, students can apply the theory obtained in lectures in a real form in the field while learning directly from practitioners.
Furthermore, this program aligns with the Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbudristek), one of which provides opportunities for students to study two semesters off campus. “They can get real lectures directly at hotels in Bali, especially from the Hilton Group,” he said.
The Vice Rector from Klungkung Regency added that an essential thing in implementing training is not academic ability but soft skills, one of which is ethics. This ability is expected to be a concern for the students. In closing, Hilton Group’s collaboration with Undiksha was appreciated. It is hoped that this program can be implemented on an ongoing basis. (hms)
