Specifically for the Karangasem area, assistance was handed over to residents in Ban Village, which was received directly by the head of the village head, I Gede Tamu Sugiantara. He appreciated this social action because it was able to ease the burden on its citizens. “I am very grateful to Undiksha Alumni. This concern is what I see. It’s not how much help is given,” he said.
He also said the availability of logistics for residents’ consumption was still safe for the next two weeks. According to him, the most urgent thing is the repair of residents’ houses. It was recorded that 377 units suffered heavy damage and 1,085 light damage due to the earthquake which took place early in the morning. Currently, the handling that can be done is limited to providing tarpaulin assistance to cover the roof. The permanent treatment is expected to be carried out immediately, bearing in mind that in the near future, it will be the rainy season. “House handling assistance is what we expect, both from the private sector and the government,” he added.
Meanwhile, Vice Chair II of IKA Undiksha, I Made Tegeh conveyed that the distribution of this assistance was a form of mutual concern and aroused a spirit of mutual cooperation. This assistance is expected to ease the economic burden on the community. “With the spirit of mutual cooperation, we help each other, I’m sure the suffering will be lighter,” he said.
He added that this concern also serves as the implementation of the Tri Hita Karana philosophy, one of which is pawongan, namely establishing good relations with fellow human beings. This philosophy is also the basis for realizing the vision of its alma mater, namely Undiksha to become a superior university in Asia in 2045. Apart from the earthquake disaster, IKA Undiksha had previously shown concern in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. The form is in the form of food assistance and means of preventing the spread of Covid-19. (hms)
