Denpasar – Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) was lined up to host the CAPEU (Consortium Asia Pacific Education Universities) Leadership Meeting, a forum for educational universities throughout Asia Pacific to gather. CAPEU’s 4th Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held at Inna Grand Kuta, Tuesday (4/2/2020).
This consortium is joined by 20 higher education institutions in Asia Pacific countries that are committed to promoting, involving, and integrating ideas, findings, best practices, research, publications, and community development with a focus on the education sector. Since its formation in 2013, this consortium has discussed educational issues that have implications for the development of education in society. Showing Undiksha as the host of the 4th AGM CAPEU indicates that the international world is increasingly seeing the existence of Undiksha and its seriousness in becoming a superior university in Asia.
Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., really appreciated CAPEU’s trust in Undiksha to organize this activity. Jampel even hopes that someday, the meeting can be held at the Undiksha Singaraja Campus. “I hope, through this meeting can generate ideas, ideas, and recommendations that are used as a reference in the field of education,” he said. Unmitigated, the Rector who was born in Nusa Dua also initiated a joint research conducted by CAPEU members. “In fact, I wish CAPEU could become a trendsetter for universities in the world. Therefore, there is a need for an understanding and a comprehensive design,” he concluded.
Apart from holding meetings and discussing current educational issues, The 4th AGM CAPEU also held the election of the CAPEU President. The position was again entrusted to Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Shatar Sabran. He was elected by acclamation for a term of office 2020 – 2023. Met on the sidelines of this meeting, he revealed that in 2020 CAPEU can realize the 3Rs, namely being a reference, being respected, and related. “Being referred, respective and relevant in carrying out education, research and community service in order to improve the image of each university,” he said.
He who is also the Chancellor of Sultan Idris University, Malaysia also hopes that the CAPEU platform can be used as a medium for collaboration between its members. “Using the CAPEU Platform to collaborate between universities and countries involved is our main goal. Moreover, we have experts from various countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore,” he said. In addition, he realized that there were not many CAPEU members, so he hoped that other educational universities could join. “I hope that more universities will want to become members. And we will no longer target only Southeast Asia, but also Europe, America, and Canada,” he said.
The 4th Annual General Meeting of CAPEU is the right place for leaders of tertiary education institutions to meet and collaborate to provide input, ideas, and ideas on educational issues. By becoming the host of this meeting, Undiksha is increasingly showing its existence ready to become a superior university in Asia. (hms)
