Universities as a place for academics and to produce superior human resources (HR) continue to be encouraged to be able to synergize with the government, both district, provincial, and central in improving development. This was conveyed by the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster in his remarks at the regional work meeting of the Higher Education Service Institute (LLDIKTI) Region VIII at Grand Inna Bali Beach, Sanur, Denpasar, Wednesday (20/2/2019). A similar statement was also made by the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Menristekdikti), Mohamad Nasir, who opened the event.
Governor Koster gave an example of this synergy, one of which is in the agricultural sector. How can academics contribute their thoughts in handling from upstream to downstream, so that the results can improve the welfare of farmers? Other fields, such as education and health, must also do the same. “Universities must synergize with the government in carrying out development. “This also includes program monitoring,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, Minister Nasir said that universities asked universities to develop research and innovation that is in line with society’s needs. This was reiterated at the launch of the 24th Hateknas which took place at Niti Mandala Field, Renon, Denpasar, on Thursday (21/2/2019). It was stated that the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education always promotes and encourages innovation to increase the nation’s competitiveness. “It is very important how to utilize information technology to be able to develop new innovations,” he said.
Undiksha Chancellor, Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., who was present at the event agreed to synergize with the government in order to improve development, especially in the field of human resources through education. “We are always committed to supporting the government in development,” he said. Currently, the largest university in North Bali has collaborated with district governments in Bali, such as Buleleng and Bangli in the field of research. Another thing is also in developing tourism through the hospitality study program. “The collaboration is already underway. “We want this to continue and have a positive impact on development,” he added.
