Singaraja– Undiksha’s mainstay karateka who competed in the 5th Batam Karate Championship (BKC) managed to make a proud achievement. At the international event which took place from 19 – 22 June 2023, two gold medals and two bronze medals were successfully presented.
The gold medals were won by I Putu Sackli Eka Nata in the Men’s 60 Kg class and Putu Wisnu Kencana in the Men’s 75 Kg class. Both of them managed to subvert the national karateka from the Riau Archipelago. While the bronze medal was won by I Kadek Teguh Astawa Prayoga in the Men’s 60 Kg class and Made Kenzo Putra Parta Nugraha in the Early Age Word class.
Undiksha Karate trainer, Dr. Kadek Yogi Parta Lesmana, S.Pd., M.Pd said the competition in this sport was very tight and the strength of the opponent was unpredictable. Thus, the athlete’s success in winning the championship is welcomed with pride. “From the results obtained, I, as the Undiksha Karate UKM trainer, am very happy when I see students competing with high fighting spirit with clear goals to achieve achievements and bring home champions for Undiksha,” he said, Friday (6/23/2023).
With the minimal participation of athletes, he is also satisfied with this achievement, and at the same time serves as a motivation to always improve and prepare himself better to face other championships, especially the upcoming National Student Sports Week.
He also emphasized that this achievement could not be separated from the support and motivation of the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd delivered at the meeting before the match. “The Chancellor’s support makes us even more excited to participate in this championship,” he added.
