Singaraja- Undiksha is increasingly showing innovation after innovation. Most recently, Undiksha through the Language UPT held BIPA (Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers) Teaching Techniques Training which incidentally is increasingly in demand by students interested in BIPA, Friday (11/15/2019).
The event which was held in the UPT ICT Video Conference Room presented 2 speakers, innovative ICT Teaching Media Practitioners, as Resource Persons I Ketut Resika Artana, S.T., M.Kom., who also served as Head of UPT ICT Undiksha. Besides that, there is an expert and also a BIPA Teaching activist M. Bundhowi who is also known as a Language and Cross-Cultural Teaching Consultant in Indonesia.
Head of UPT Language Putu Ayu Prabawati Sudana, S.Pd., M.Hum., as well as Chair of the Activity Committee explained that this training was focused on how to produce prospective BIPA activists who can create and use innovative ICT teaching media, so as to stimulate the interest of foreign speakers to Study. “Of course, this is one of the efforts to improve the quality of learning in BIPA,” she said.
Participants who reach 22 people will get three main materials in the form of BIPA teaching techniques for four language skills and grammar components, teaching cultural aspects, and using innovative media in teaching BIPA, which will be summarized in 2 days of activities. “This is to train BIPA UPT Language teachers, train the general public, and even students who want to become BIPA teachers. Apart from that, he also introduced the UPT Undiksha Language as one of the BIPA program organizers in Bali,” she explained.
In addition to the language field, in the BIPA program, teachers also need to master culture which is also an attraction for students to learn. “So language and culture are important,” said the Undiksha English lecturer. Separately, one of the participants who was still a student at the Undiksha Postgraduate Program felt that the Undiksha Language UPT had facilitated those who intended to become BIPA teachers to get an education and new knowledge about teaching.
The enthusiasm of the training participants was seen when Resika as the first speaker gave ice breaking using the Kahoot application. Participants starting to be introduced to this application tested their knowledge of BIPA which was followed by training on how to use web-based applications to create innovative BIPA teaching media. Undiksha as one of the educational universities in Bali is indeed the choice for foreigners to study BIPA. So that with this activity it is hoped that new seeds will emerge that will lead BIPA teaching in Bali, even in Indonesia. (hms)
