Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) prepares international accreditation for superior accredited study programs and prospective study programs. To strengthen this, a webinar was held which presented resource persons, Agung Yulianto, S.Pd., M.Sc., Head of the Semarang State University (UNNES) Quality Assurance Agency, Tuesday on November 24th, 2020.
The webinar which was attended by leaders of faculties, postgraduates, departments and study programs was opened by the Deputy Chancellor of Undiksha for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I. He conveyed that study program accreditation is one of the programs that is proclaimed every year. The Undiksha Chancellor targets that by 2023, 60 percent of study programs have been accredited with excellence, both from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) and international accreditation. “During this pandemic, starting around July to November, Undiksha has succeeded in adding ten superior accredited study programs. We have 19 excellent accredited study programs out of 67 study programs, only about 28 percent,” he explained.
Furthermore, on every occasion, the Undiksha Chancellor always emphasizes the study program to improve accreditation and towards international accreditation. This step is an effort to increase the competitiveness of universities, including making it easier to establish cooperation with other universities, especially from abroad. “I see that this accreditation is not just a one-time process, but this accreditation is a continuous process. So I hope that the indicators contained in the accreditation, both BAN-PT and international accreditation can be our foothold in implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. With that, I hope we can maintain our quality at Undiksha, improve the quality and hope to cultivate quality at the study program, faculty and university levels,” he said.
In particular, the vice chancellor from Badung Regency expressed his appreciation for the holding of this webinar. It is hoped that the material presented by the resource persons can provide an overview of the participants regarding the things that must be prepared and considered to lead to international accreditation.
Meanwhile, Agung Yulianto explained that international accreditation shows the academic quality and outcomes of the academic process that has been carried out by universities. This accreditation aims to increase the competitiveness of study programs at the national and international level, as well as improve international reputation and facilitate international cooperation. To make it happen, what is needed is not only the readiness of human resources in the study program, but also other breakthroughs, such as the establishment of international classes, promotion to the international level, international cooperation, and relevant curricula. Through it, graduates are expected to have global insight and culture. “We need to have an action plan, compiling a curriculum with the big universities in the world. Not just juxtaposing. But how can we collaborate, such as student exchanges,” he said.
According to him, the study program proposed for international accreditation is not limited to having superior accreditation. But it must also pay attention to the level of fans. “We have to make sure this study program (the proposed one, ed) has high demand, has a high tightness ratio,” he explained. He also emphasized that if you want to go towards international accreditation, the main thing to do is understand the indicators that are the provisions. (hms)
