Singaraja- The Postgraduate Program of Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) welcomed its new students for the 2024/2025 academic year. As part of the orientation, students from various study programs participated in a general lecture titled “Higher Education Lectures Based on the Learning Management System (LMS).” Through this event, students were encouraged to demonstrate integrity and embrace a transformative mindset to ensure they become competitive graduates in the future.
According to data, in 2024, the Undiksha Postgraduate Program accepted 772 students, including those enrolled in master’s and doctoral programs. The Director of Postgraduate Program Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., emphasized that postgraduate education is not only about enhancing academic skills within one’s chosen field of study program, but also about fostering better personal attitudes and behaviors. “In addition to academic excellence, students must display politeness and respect towards everyone,” he emphasized.
In the context of lectures, students were also advised to be responsive and demonstrate energy in their studies. Integrity, he noted, is a crucial criterion for students, closely related to the Balinese cultural principle of Tri Kaya Parisudha, derived from Hindu Religion. This principle encourages students to think, act, and speak appropriately, kindly, and truthfully. “We hope that after earning their Master’s and Doctoral degrees, students will not only improve academically but also develop more refined behaviors. This will bring pride to Undiksha and enhance its reputation within the community,” he added, expressing the hope that students will graduate on time.
Prof. Jampel also took this opportunity to transform the Postgraduate Program’s commitment to delivering high-quality education and student services. He remains open to suggestions and feedback that can contribute to future improvements. “Our current motto is “Mesari”< (Serving Every Day). This is the commitment we are building,” he said.
Embracing a Transformative Mindset
The general lecture featured guest speakers, including the Director of the Postgraduate School State University of Semarang, Prof. Dr. Fathur Rokhman, M.Hum., and the Vice Rector for Academic and Cooperation of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I.
Prof. Fathur Rokhman highlighted the importance of students having a transformative mindset, a drive to make positive changes for themselves and their campus, ensuring progress and excellence in the future. He noted that the path to transformation presents various challenges, such as the shift from Industry 4.0 to 5.0. Universities, he emphasized, must adapt swiftly to the digital age. He also highlighted the need for institutions to meet global quality standards through certifications, accreditations, and other measures. Similarly, universities must implement effective management of both online and offline learning to build trust.
Prof. Rasben Dantes also addressed key policies at Undiksha regarding the academic credit system for each program, the recognition of scientific research publications, and the standards that must be met in lectures.
