Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) and Xinyang Normal University participated in the Southeast Asia Directors’ Conference which was held on 20-21 July 2023. This inaugural conference with the Southeast Asia Confucius Institute with the theme ‘Coordinated Innovation for Steady Progress,’ was successfully held in Beijing. The conference is organized by the China International Education Foundation.
More than 250 participants, including directors and representatives from Confucius Institutes in 10 Southeast Asian countries, as well as leaders from partner universities in China and abroad attended this major event to jointly discuss and share ideas for the coordinated development of Confucius Institutes. At this event, Undiksha was represented by Vice Chancellor III, Prof. Dr. I Ketut Sudiana, M.Kes, Chinese Director of the Balingkang Confucius Institute, Indonesian Director of the Balingkang Confucius Institute, and Head of the Undiksha Cooperation Office.
At the opening ceremony of the conference, the Chairman of the International China Education Foundation, Yang Wei gave approval to five new Confucius institutes, including the Balingkang Confucius Institute.
The establishment of the Balingkang Confucius Institute as a collaborative link between Undiksha and Xinyang Normal University, this institute will teach Mandarin to increase people’s understanding of the Chinese language and culture and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and culture between the two parties. By participating in this activity, the Balingkang Confucius Institute received a plaque and became part of the network of Confucius Institutes in Southeast Asia. (rls)
