Singaraja– Undiksha Faculty of Sports and Health (FOK) held Undiksha Run, Sunday (1/12/2019). This sporting event, which was the first time, was attended by hundreds of participants. This received appreciation from the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd who also participated. It is hoped that running can become a culture in the campus environment.
According to Jampel Records, this sport has become a culture in overseas universities, such as Japan and Taiwan. This was witnessed when he made a visit in order to discuss educational development cooperation. “Yesterday, I was at Ming Chi University of Technology, Taiwan. There, before going to college, you had to run every day, not every week, let alone every year. It’s true that the campus is wide, maybe we can do it in ours,” he said.
It was said further, running is very well done to maintain the physical condition of students and lecturers, besides prioritizing scientific competence and character. “So I appreciate what FOK is holding and not only for FOK, this can be for Undiksha. I hope that maybe every week, it should be held, if possible every day is better,” he said.
For this reason, the Chancellor of Jampel wants this sport to be held at every opportunity and even plans to schedule it every Friday around the campus. “Running is one of the cheapest sports, which can be done together and can be done at any time,” he added.
Around 400 participants participated in this five-kilometer run, not only FOK students but also the public. There are also people from abroad, one of them is Steven. This French citizen who has lived in Bali for ten years gave his appreciation. He hopes this event can become a routine agenda. “I am very happy to be participating. Hopefully, this can be held again,” he said. Apart from the Undiksha run, before that, a healthy walk was also held. This sport is a part of FOK’s 13th-anniversary celebration. (hms)
