Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) is taking steps to prevent the spread of Covid-19 (coronavirus). Rector, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd issued instructions for implementing online lectures from March 16 2020 to April 30, 2020. This was discussed at an expanded leadership meeting which took place in the Rectorate’s Ganesha I Room, Saturday (14/3/2020).
At the meeting which took place from the afternoon until that evening, the Chancellor of Jampel emphasized that instruction number 1 of 2020 refers to the circular of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number HK. 02.01/Menkes/199/2020, Circular of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 3 of 2020 dated March 9, 2020, and Circular Letter of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Culture Number 35492/A.A5/HK/2020, regarding the prevention of Corona Virus Disease-19, and pay attention to the situation and conditions that develop in society. It was stated that Undiksha continued to carry out Teaching and Learning Activities for the Diploma, S1, Master, and Doctoral levels, replacing theoretical lectures with online learning. “This is our effort to anticipate the spread of the virus. For the time being, lectures are based online,” he explained.
In addition to theoretical lectures, practicum lectures in laboratories, workshops, or the like are also suspended, replaced with assignments, or held in June and July 2020. The implementation arrangements are left to the respective study programs with a note that they always apply vigilance and prevent or spread of COVID-19 19. “For field lectures suspended or rescheduled until further notice. If under certain conditions it must be carried out, it must be accompanied by precautionary measures and prevention of the spread of COVID-19,” he said. The same thing applies to the final work examination (final project, thesis, thesis, and dissertation). “Implementation of research and community service activities that involve data collection and activities with the community must be accompanied by precautions,” said Jampel.
Apart from relating to the learning process, the Undiksha leadership also prohibits all Undiksha lecturers, students, and education staff from traveling abroad, including traveling abroad for the exchange of students, lecturers, or other programs that have been designed and agreed upon. “University, Faculty, or Study Program Leaders certainly also coordinate with partner tertiary institutions abroad to find the best possible solution to the administrative and academic consequences of this ban. For academic service activities and public services to the community, they will continue as usual, by limiting crowds and paying attention to vigilance,” he said.
Along with the implementation of Online/Online Learning, Undiksha Leaders also appealed to students who live in dormitories and boarding houses in the Singaraja area to return/go back to their parents/family homes as soon as possible. Students who for some reason cannot do that, are asked to report themselves to the Head of the Undiksha Dormitory and/or the Head of the Faculty Student Affairs Subdivision, and will then be monitored. “We also ask all lecturers, students, and education staff to postpone or cancel the implementation of various activities that cause large crowds of people in such a way,” he continued.
Meanwhile, for activities that cause large crowds of people that cannot be postponed or canceled (for example UTBK-SBMPTN, UTBK-Independent, National Competency Test) the implementation continues to apply precautions and prevent the transmission of Covid-19 infection as best as possible. “We hope that every organizer and participant of these activities must comply with the standards set by Undiksha,” concluded Jampel.
