Singaraja – Students from Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) once again showed their progress in international competitions. This time from the ASEAN Innovative Science, Environmental, and Entrepreneur Fair (AISEEF) organized by the Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA) in collaboration with Diponegoro University, Semarang, from 2 to 5 February 2022.
Based on the latest data, six of the eight Undiksha teams participating in the competition won gold medals and three silver medals. This prestigious event was attended by more than 400 teams from 20 countries, such as Indonesia, Singapore, China, USA, Iran, Mesir, Korea, Taiwan, etc. These teams displayed various innovations.
The first Undiksha team consisted of Kadek Edy Sukarma, Kadek Angga Dewantara, Putu Krisna Satya Jayadi from the Faculty of Medicine, Putu Satya Dadi Saputra from the Faculty of Economics, and Ida Ayu Komang Trisna Dewi from the Faculty of Language and Arts. This team presented a work called MEAQUER (Mechanical Aqua Warmer): An Innovation for Warming Water by Utilizing Solar Energy with The Density of Water Concept for Health. This work is an innovation of a water heater that is practical and environmentally friendly with the latest concept, namely using the concept of water density and the delivery of solar radiation through focusing light. This product makes it easier for people to get warm water for bathing to relieve anxiety and improve body health, especially during the current Covid-19 pandemic.
The process of making this work is highly related to the high number of cases of public anxiety due to the Covid-19 pandemic. One of the non-pharmacological therapies to relieve stress is suggested to take a warm bath. However, the general public currently uses water heaters with electrical energy. In Indonesia, electricity production still relies on burning coal which will produce carbon dioxide, which will increase the effect of global warming. Under the guidance of Dr. dr. Made Kurnia Widiastuti Giri, S.Ked., M.Kes., the preparation of the innovation went for about three months and won a silver medal in innovative science.
The second team consisted of I Ketut Anggriani from the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, Komang Jepri Kusuma Jaya, Gusti Aditya Trisna Murti from the Faculty of Engineering, and Vocational, Ni Putu Ayu Pirdayanti from the Postgraduate Program, and Ni Luh Gede Yastini from the Faculty of Economics. This team presented a work called Smart Kolok: Educational, Economic, and Social Development Center of Kolok Disability Community based on Mobile Applications.
This application contains several features to help students and the kolok community, namely educational, economic, social, art, and digital kolok dictionaries. The educational component includes a collection of learning materials for kolok students. The economic feature helps promote creative industry products from the kolok community by directly connecting consumers with sellers. The social and art features contain information about the general picture and crafts of the kolok community. And the kolok dictionary feature aims to help make it easier for people to understand the kolok language. Under the guidance of I Wayan Pardi, S.Pd., M.Pd., this work won a gold medal in the social science category.
The third team consisted of Ni Wayan Dian Yusmara Yanti, Putu Shinta Ayu Cahyani, Raden Simson Simbolon from the Faculty of Economics, and I Wayan Ardhi Suantara from the Language and Arts Faculty. This team made Fish Sambal innovation: Innovation And Application of E-Commerce Products Catong Fish Sambal (Cangkalang and Tongkol). This work is an innovation in Suana Village, Nusa Penida District, Klungkung Regency. This work is motivated by the large number of processed fish foods that have not been distributed, and there are still groups that are inconsistent in producing this catong chili sauce. Financial records are still unclear, as well as the marketing approach was still conventional, which is the goal of innovation for this product. Under the guidance of Dr. Ketut Agustini, S.Si, M.Si, and assistant I Ketut Andika Pradnyana, S.Pd,.M.Pd., this work won a silver medal for the entrepreneur category.
The fourth team consisted of Gusti Aditya Trisna Murti and Komang Jepri Kusuma Jaya from the Faculty of Engineering and Vocational School, Ni Putu Ayu Pirdayanti from the Postgraduate Program, and Ni Luh Gede Yastini from the Faculty of Economics. This team showcases the innovations of Dotmed Solution: Career Development and Smart Technopreneurs in the Millennial Generation. This work is a business engaged in information technology services by creating a liaison application between freelancers as information technology service providers and prospective customers in the form of a website. The Dotmed Solution website can make it easier for people to find and choose services for making all types of information technology, such as making interactive learning multimedia. In addition, Dotmed Solution is also a job opportunity for young people who have the ability in technology to become freelancers. In the future, Dotmed Solution is expected to develop as a startup.
The creation of this website reflects on the pandemic period, which encourages the use of e-modules, learning videos, interactive multimedia, learning applications, and the use of other technologies. On the other hand, not all educators have the skills to make these products. This work won a gold medal for the entrepreneur category and two special awards, namely the IYSA Semi Grand Award and the IYSA Grand Prize (3 best) with second place.
The fifth team consisted of Kadek Yuda Wiryanatha from the Faculty of Engineering and Vocational School, Putu Pipit Pricelia Eka Putri from the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, Ni Putu Ayu Yuli Sumadianti from the Faculty of Economics, Luh Putu Restu Adi Utami, S. Pd., M. Pd., and Kadek Reda Setiawan Suda, S.Pd. The team, which was guided by Dr. Nyoman Santiyadnya, S.Si., M.T, showed the work of OTOPAD, which is an automatic lock-based door security product with fingerprints. This innovation won a gold medal.
The sixth team consisted of Putu Wia Rosita Dewi, Ni Luh Gede Kusumasari, Kadek Gita Cahyani, Ni Kadek Dwi Utami, and Ni Wayan Ayu Kesumawati. The team from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) made a product in the form of suweg noodles to optimize agricultural potential and develop alternative food ingredients that have economic value. The advantages of this product are that it is without preservatives, and the texture of the noodles is chewy, with a taste that is not inferior to noodles in general. The product won a gold medal in the field of entrepreneurship.
The seventh team consisted of Gede Gery Apriliana Putra and Ronia Apriani from the Chemistry Study Program, Ketut Widya Astuti and Ni Putu Ayu Niya Loviyani from the English Education Study Program, and Komang Putrayasa from the Law Studies Study Program, who received two awards, namely a silver medal in the industrial application category and gold in the entrepreneur category. At this event, two works were displayed. The first is entitled “Fabrication of Super Strong and Lightweight Composite Materials based on Natural Fiber and Silica-Carbon Nanocomposite Rice Husk Ash Waste.” The advantages possessed by nanocomposite are lightweight, made from rice husk ash, and natural fiber derived from coconut. In addition, this product is also made to reduce tree cutting and increase farmer activities. This innovation won a silver medal in the industrial application category. Second, “Alcohol-free wine product development using immobilized local hybrid saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast and batch distillation technology.” Through this innovation, making wine can be consumed by all people. This work won a gold medal for the entrepreneur category and received a Semi Grand Award.
The eighth team consisted of Putu Pipit Pricellia Eka Putri from the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, Kadek Yuda Wiryanatha from the Faculty of Engineering and Vocational School, Ni Putu Ayu Yuli Sumadianti from the Faculty of Economics, Andi Prasetya from the Faculty of Languages and Arts, and Kadek Reda Setiawan Suda, S. Pd. This team presented a work entitled Panji Herbal: Cultural Heritage Of Red Ginger Jamu (Zingiber Officinale Var Rubrum Rhizoma) As A Millenial Medicine During The Covid-19 Pandemic. This work won a gold medal in the entrepreneur category.
This achievement received appreciation from the Rector of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd. “We give our appreciation to students and lecturers for their success in achieving this achievement. It’s commendable,” he said. Achievements, he continued, are very important to increase the competitiveness of universities, both nationally and internationally, and likewise for student competitiveness. “Hopefully, in the future, there will be more achievements, especially at the international level,” he hoped.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Public Relations of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., said Undiksha continues to improve international achievements. Steps are taken by maximizing coaching and mapping the potential of students. “Undiksha’s vision is to become a superior university based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy in Asia by 2045. International achievements are one of the required elements,” he concluded. (lpsy)
