Singaraja– The position of Undiksha Chancellor has been held for one year by Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd in the 2nd period, 2019-2023. He was appointed on April 12 2019 by the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Mohamad Nasir. A series of programs have been initiated to increase Undiksha’s competitiveness, both at the national and international levels. Facilitating this, it is hoped that the entire academic community will continue to provide support and equalize the steps to realize Undiksha as one of the universities excellent in Teaching, Research, and Innovation. “I will not be able to work alone to make it happen. And I am sure that no one can realize this big goal without the help of all Undiksha residents,” said the Chancellor of Jampel, Tuesday (21/4/2020).
This support is focused on the implementation of programs targeted by Undiksha which have been determined through the Chancellor’s and Minister’s performance contracts. The program includes increasing the number of excellent study programs, increasing university rankings, increasing lecturers with doctoral qualifications, increasing the number of international publications, and increasing journals with global reputations. “I want to make this university move faster. I am sure, with the hard work and togetherness that we have built, we will be able to bring Undiksha to become one of the superior and competitive universities, and hopefully, it can becomeTrend-Setter and Go International,” he said.
In several activities, the Chancellor from Nusa Dua, Badung often invites the entire academic community to make changes for the better, even from the smallest things. The change is intended to answer all the demands and challenges in this era of technological disruption. As an academic institution, it is hoped that the academic community will further highlight academic achievements and must be able to produce graduates who are characterized and competent in their fields.
In 2020, the world is faced with the Covid-19 pandemic. This situation had an impact on activities at Undiksha. The learning process switches to the system in the network. Employees and lecturers work from home. It is hoped that this condition will not dampen the motivation of the entire academic community in improving quality. Lecturers are expected to be present in the midst of society through their Higher Education Tri Dharma, for example providing guidance to teachers in schools (kindergarten, elementary, junior high, high school/vocational school) in utilizing online learning and developing learning content, carrying out related research with Covid-19, carrying out community service related to this pandemic period, as well as other activities that can directly touch the needs and difficulties of the community. “In situations like this, Undiksha must contribute to helping the regional and central government,” he said.
