Singaraja- A cultural performance of Indonesia and Japan took place at the Faculty of Language and Arts, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (FBS-Undiksha) in an event entitled Buleleng International Rhythm Festival (BIRF) 2025, Monday (10/3/2025). This event was initiated by the Dean of FBS Undiksha, Drs. I Gede Nurjaya, M.Pd collaborated with Sanggar Seni Santhi Budaya and IOV UNESCO as a place to introduce more Japanese and Indonesian cultures.
The performance held at the Wantilan Campus of Undiksha’s Faculty of Language and Arts was opened with the Jauk Manis dance performance, which was accompanied by Sekaa Tabuh Gayotra consisting of FBS Undiksha students. This Balinese dance movement managed to amaze the audience, including representatives of IOV UNESCO and foreign students from the Netherlands who were also present.
Furthermore, the audience was presented with a Japanese drum performance by the Kikuyo Musashi Kengoudaiko delegation, consisting of children who performed stunningly with dynamic percussion action. This performance received a warm welcome from the audience, which was then followed by a workshop to further introduce traditional Japanese musical instruments to the participants. In addition, the event was also enlivened by the performance of Japanese dance by Undiksha Japanese Language Education Study Program students.
Undiksha’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes who opened the event, considered this performance as a very interesting opportunity to introduce Indonesian culture, especially Bali, and Japan. He hopes that similar events can be held again in the future as a step to promote Indonesian art and culture in the international area.
The representatives of IOV UNESCO, Andris Adhitra, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration in this event. He emphasized that IOV Indonesia, as an organization committed to the preservation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage, believes that language and culture are bridges that connect nations. Therefore, the efforts to introduce each other’s cultures are very important to strengthen relations between nations.
As part of the series of events, the collaboration between Undiksha and FBS Undiksha with IOV UNESCO is expected to strengthen collaboration in the fields of arts and culture and expand international networks in the future.
With the implementation of this event, it is hoped that the Buleleng International Rhythm Festival can become an annual event that continues to promote the value of art and culture in the international area. (hms)
