Singaraja – Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha), through its Institute for Quality Assurance and Development, conducted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Best Practices and Applied Approach Module Review. Held at Sunari Hotel, Buleleng, the event gathered academics and education practitioners committed to enhancing teaching quality and educational standards.
The FGD featured Dr. Syamsul Sodiq, M.Pd., from the State University of Surabaya, who shared insights on best practices in Applied Approach implementation. Additionally, Undiksha academics, Prof, Dr, U Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., and Prof. Dr. Kadek Suranata, S.Pd., M.Pd.,Kons., led a comprehensive review session on the Applied Approach module.
In his opening remarks, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., emphasized that this initiative is part of Undiksha’s continuous efforts to enhance education quality. A key focus is the Instructional Techniques Skills Enhancement Training (PEKERTI), which is not only offered to Undiksha’s faculty members but also to lecturers from various universities. “This training is essential for equipping lecturers with fundamental instructional design principles and relevant pedagogical skills. As an educational institution, Undiksha has a responsibility to provide training that enhances teaching, research, and community engagement competencies,” he explained.
Prof. Rasben Dantes also stressed the importance of effective teaching practices, highlighting that the goal is not just to achieve academic rankings but to ensure that educators fulfill their roles with dedication. He pointed out that high-quality graduates can only be produced by competent educators who maintain strong connections with their students. “Good teaching goes beyond knowledge transfer, it is about creating impactful learning experiences. Graduates must not only excel academically but also develop strong character and readiness for the professional world,” he added.
The outcomes of this FGD are expected to be practically implemented by Undiksha lecturers and educators from other institutions. Prof. Rasben Dantes also encouraged faculty members to continuously refine their teaching methodologies, ensuring that they contribute to the development of well-rounded, high-achieving graduates.
