Singaraja – Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) held its 2024 year-end performance reflection and evaluation on December 28, 2024. Led directly by the Rector of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd., the event emphasized critical components essential for institutional success, including strategy, resource management, processes, risk mitigation, and quality assurance.
In his address, Prof. Lasmawan highlighted several key areas requiring attention, such as operational management, financial health, organizational culture, and professional ethics. He emphasized the need for ongoing evaluations to monitor individual performance across all work units and to foster a positive organizational culture.
The Rector explained that this evaluation aimed to ensure good university governance by assessing unit-specific performance targets and maintaining quality standards. Leadership was identified as a vital element, serving as an evaluation metric to map leadership potential at various levels within the institution.
The 2024 performance review revealed several strengths, including high ratings in personal integrity, self-development, task adherence, leadership skills, and loyalty to leaders. However, areas such as teamwork, risk-taking ability, and open-mindedness were identified as requiring further improvement.
Prof. Lasmawan also discussed the keys to successful leadership in State Universities with Legal Entity (PTN BH), particularly in finance and academics. He encouraged all units to identify programs or activities with potential revenue-generating opportunities. Furthermore, he announced that by 2026, all services at Undiksha would transition to digital platforms. Key focus areas include academics, strategy, operations, technology, collaboration and student development, which are vital for PTN-BH success.
The Rector emphasized that evaluations like this serve to motivate the entire academic community to enhance performance and support the university’s development in achieving its vision and mission. Similar evaluations are encouraged at the faculty, institutional, and unit levels to monitor progress and maintain accountability. These measures are expected to propel Undiksha toward its goal of becoming an excellent, innovative and integrated university while ensuring its position as a leading institution in Indonesia.
